Re: Concentric Pyramid KoTH

It's definitely a lot of fun. My only concern is that with smaller teams it can be REALLY easy for one team to just flatten the whole map, which is not so fun for the other team.

I do appreciate the map, though. Will play again!

Simplicity

So at some point in the last few weeks, I picked up BZFlag again, and while sitting in the university CS lab with some friends, I decided we needed a fun map to play on. Naturally, I decided that throwing my own touch at the classic Pillbox style would be the best way to go. Thus, this map happened....

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping

Now that I'm playing BZFlag again, and this time with a Playstation controller:

Movement: Left Analog Stick
Shoot: X and L1
Jump: O and R1
Scoreboard: L2
Binoculars: R2
Drop Flag: Square
Start/Identify: Triangle
Pause: Start
Selfdestruct: Select

I hate playing with keys and mouse.

Re: A New Playing Style?

Survivor games work best with extremely high-paced games such as Quake. BZFlag is not nearly as quick as it would need to be for this. Although I guess it could be if you put laser flags everywhere, made them last a long time, and you made tanks move insanely fast.

I believe that people who constantly rejoin after being kicked deserve to be shot.

It's not your right to be on a server. If someone doesn't want you wasting their resources, you probably shouldn't do it.

I definitely see the variables such as speed, momentum, and turn speed being useful.

Re: CTF Work in progress

Kasofa1, I hate to have to disagree so badly, but it's going to happen. MW2.3 shouldn't, in my opinion, be a good example for anything. Classical MW was much better to me. I am tired of all this laser sniping garbage. Also, the middle doesn't need any sort of tower. Maybe some sort of landmark, but ...

Re: Large Capture the Flag map

Surely you have a text editor. BZW files are plaintext, you can open it with any text editor, even if iBZEdit made it originally.

The only trouble you'd have is getting it back in iBZEdit.

This sounds like it could be fun, but it would be something best left to a plugin. You could probably modify LouMan's KOTH plugin to do something like this.

Re: Stalingrad

Yes, I got to play on this for a while earlier today. It's a fantastic map, definitely a lot of fun.

The gameplay of it is pretty unique, too, it's definitely a lot different from the run-of-the-mill CTF maps that I've seen and played on (and made... whoops).

Great work, Jefenry!

Re: Sound Object

It would be MIDIs, as I don't know of anything else bandwidth/dialup friendly, and even complex midi files are smaller than many texture pngs. Also, I think the options should include one to never download, as well as one to download but not play them. MIDIs are not sound. They are instructions for...

Oh man, I made a PHP script that could randomly generate a 3-team CTF map. I wonder if I still have that anywhere, I could patch that up and send it your way, ahs3.

I highly recommend that people give this map a try. I've played with Constitution and Grace F a few times on here now, and it is a LOT of fun to play.

Excellent work, Const!

Re: Missile War League??

The Missile War maps have always been great and fun maps. For open play, that is. They just require so much action full-time to stay fun, though. As has been said, this essentially requires a high number of players per team to make a match interesting. Based on my experience with the old OpenLeague ...

Idunno PETER, I find that rogues are the only ones upset with Rogue Geno, so if you're going to be nice to the whiners, why not just remove Geno altogether? Rogue Geno plugin seems to make it a little more fair. However, you could also use a plugin that makes it so Rogues can't have the G flag.

also, if you use "flag" then make sure you have all those flags in the options section, like this: +f G{2} +f SW{6} +f WG{8} and so on, where SW{8} will be spawning 8 SW flags across all the zones with that flag in them. and if you have multiple zones with the same flag and you are using ...

I was goofing around on Macrosoft's server with this map, and I must say, it is an amazing looking map. However, I might make some suggestions. The feel of the map is a bit empty. It's a great design, but needs more in terms of obstacles, or, dare I say it, world weapons. Also, it's really hard to s...
