BattleZone was popular in the late 80's in video arcades. If I remember correctly, which I may not, it ran on Atari game machines. It was single-player, no network, but typically had you pitted against 2 tanks at a time. Each round started with you playing against one or two regular tanks. Once you...

Re: Thanks

I'll try this during the day today--sounds like it might solve the problem. I did not know the fix for the hostname issue. So are you new here? I may pm you about this later if that is ok. That would be fine. I host the bzflag.kovclan.org server. I wouldn't say I'm new here but find actually playin...

BZFS v2.0 on a Windows Box

I have a 2003 Server on my LAN running on a server class box. My bzflag game I host currently runs on a slowish box running Linux Fedora. As we move to V2.0 I was toying with the idea of running the game on the Windows server. Were there any changes in the bzfs.exe of 2.0 that make it run more stabl...

Check your .conf file for the -p port you have chosen to run the game under. Make sure you have any port forwarding in your cable modem or hardware firewall pointing to the IP of your server. If you are trying to connect to the game via the hostname you'll need to add the hostname to your c:\windows...

While creating a mapping tool is much less exciting than adding some new whiz bang game feature, frankly, it would probably add more to the game than anything else.

There are quite a few people like this. They just can't handle the motion and 3D. Makes them sick. In another time, another game (Monster Truck Madness II) I created a world called "ACID". Because of the sound and moving lights the best of us could only play for 15 minutes or so without be...

They seemed to work for me. Thanks for the link...

I'd like to add a block to my website that lists the current players in a game. Anyone have any code or help on how to extract this info?

bzflag stats

Looks like the bzflag server stats is down. Is this permanent or can we expect it back up sometime?

Seems a little extreme seeing that it is only a matter of time before the parents download a virus or receive one in email that toasts (no pun intended) their computer. This is the equivelent of saying that if you get hurt in a car accident you'll be grounded but not providing an air bag or seat bel...

Ill try running it in XP Compatability mode, and see if it works. Also, when I connect through atlantis14.serveftp.net, I get a error saying communication error or something, but when I connect through my internal IP adress to my server, everything works fine. Is there a port I need to open up that...

When I started hosting bzflag.kovclan.org I had it on a Windows 2003 server. The only way I was able to get it to run without crashing was to run it in Windows XP compatability mode. After doing that the server would at least stay up and running but every once in a while it would toss players off, n...

I would have to disagree on the No shot limits on flags. I sat on a server today with a no shot limit for GM. The map had a nice high ledge and I just sat there and scored 100 unanswered kills. I can hold my own in skill level but there are far better players than myself. I can only imagine they cou...

Bandwidth vs Number of Players

Are there guidelines as to how much bandwidth each client/user requires on a server?
