However, I'm beginning to wonder wether the world really needs a most likely second rate BZFS.. If you mean you're wondering about your computer working as a server, there should be no problem. However, there are many people out there with dedicated servers that could probably help you out in that ...

With a jailbroken iPhone it is possible to install terminal and have access to an ssh client. So this wouldnt be too hard to accomplish. I would wait however, until the iPhone software upgrade comes and see if a terminal application will come then.

Spaz, after rereading his sentence a multitude of times I think I figured out what he is trying to say. I believe that he is having problems getting the physical drivers to work. Gears of War, please *attach* the map file. That will allow us to examine the file and provide the needed corrections. Th...

Can you post some more details?

Did the map file load? Do you see any errors when starting your server?

You could also post the map file so we can take a look at it.

Ok, there is a couple of things you should know. These can all be found at the wiki ( http://my.bzflag.org/w/ ). First of all you must define the physics: #Horizontal physical driver moving 50 units/sec in the x-axis position: physics name moving linear 50 0 0 end Now that you have defined the drive...

Code: Select all

meshbox
position 0 0 0
size 100 2 20
rotation 45
diffuse 0 0 0 0
end

Code: Select all

diffuse 0 0 0 0
That may be the easiest, but we are trying to figure out which way is the best for many objects.

Expanding on Optic's post : material name invisible texture http://images.bzflag.org/pmatous/transparent/Trans-100.png end meshox position 0 0 0 size 10 10 10 matref invisible end I'm not exactly sure what the reasoning behind this being better, except perchance that it makes the map load faster.

Is this what you mean? You have a base, with a zone around it, say 1 1/2 the size of the base. In that zone, red team can not pick up the red flag. This might be nice, but like blast said, there are many reasons why you would like to carry your flag away from your base. Take the Hix map for example....

It is always up to the map-maker what the 'best' map editor is. Some prefer ibzedit, some prefer text-edit, some use wings3d, some use blender. There are many, many options to choose from. However, like Optic Delusion said, when using a 3d editor, it is always best to make final changes in a text ed...

There are quite a few links for starting a server on macosx.

I use these commands:

Code: Select all

cd /Users/*yourname*/pathtobzflag.app/Contents/Macos

and then ./bzfs -d -conf /path/to/your/config.conf
Here is the bzflag wiki on how to create a server

It might be useful if you also add what quality you are using in BZFlag. Ie experimental, high, low. etc.

Wait for a while, Teppic is going to release a full version of blender with BZWTools installed. This will suit you just fine, even more than you would like probably.

Now being hosted at bzflagr.net:5451 full time. Thanks for all feedback.

I also edited the spawn zones, You will only spawn inside the long boxes, but you can travel around them for easier ctf.
