In that case, why wait? It's on a public server:

shellshock.bzflag.bz:4504 :lol-old:

P.S.: I updated the screenshot in the first post to reflect the latest changes.

A few modifications have been made: 1) Added some protection near the bases 2) Attached metal bars to the ice tunnels. A small thing, but tactically, these bars can be very very interesting: - they allow for 'kami kazi' (a.k.a. suicide) shots (try to discover this unique feature) - they create a pas...

The idea started with a classic Pillbox layout. I also wanted to do a snow and ice themed map, and this is the result.

By the way, there will be no flags (except team flags of course), no jumping, all in true Pillbox style.

Not quite the misunderstanding you make it out to be, in fact, its understood quite well. The server's having a full crowd on your map! Good work.

Chillbox CTF

Before I go for a holiday I decided to get all the ice out of my fridge and make a map out of it. The map's called 'Chillbox' and rather obviously inspired by the famous Pillbox. No idea if it's playable or not, haven't tested it, it might be crap, even put my name to shame, but I put it up anyway: ...

Now my head really hurts. Have mercy on me! dutchrai, speaking of the story.. who really were those people in the vast sahara desert having access to advanced technology? the berbers? the tuaregs? did they have ties to the ancient egyptians? lost civilizations? or were they time-travellers from our ...

Lol...is this a scientific discussion right here in the BZFlag forum? Sand Blaster seems to be kicking some dust (pun intended of course)

I guess its a dangerous thing to add storylines to maps when all that should be done is play around in them. Remind me not to do this again

And thats what happened. Even today in Chernobyl, you still can't get too near the reactor. Radio-active readings are off the scale. A nasty place for hundreds of years to come due to the rather long half-life of uranium (thats where the game half-life got its name from...nuclear physics). As for Sa...

The big funnel thing in the background actually is a cooling tower, not a powerplant. It is typically used to aid nuclear power plants in cooling. The actual nuclear plant is usually a squarish type of concrete reinforced building. Here's a great article on cooling towers, with a nice shot: http://e...

First of all, credits to Trepan for the gold-edged pyramids idea. During testing he's send me a very nice concept I liked, and I made a very low poly version of it. Too bright? Could be, I used the standard gold material definition I used for the domes. But of course, the domes are high up and not s...

The Shell Shock servers are now continuously using trepan's latest bzfs builds (2.0.9.x at the moment).

Fog is now enabled and looking cool. If you can't see fog you have it either disabled in your client or your client is of version 2.0.4 or older.

Sand Blaster V2

2010. Sixteen years after the Chernobyl disaster, it happened again. This time in the vast Sahara Desert. An entire city now lays abandoned but neighbouring countries are fighting over the technology in radiation-shielded tanks. Enter Sand Blaster. Updates to version 1 of this map include the North ...

But that would compromise your radar image as well, plus there is still this clearly to be read text on 1/3 of the screen.

Well, I realize you only just got started on it, but here is what comes to mind first: 1) More boxes to jump on 2) You might want to experiment with raising the 4 middle pyramid 'buildings' by putting them on top 2 or so box levels. 3) Make a couple of holes in the long side walls (maybe, cause it's...

Best thing is the additional power over texture mapping. Right now I have some really stretched textures on some meshes :-)

Independent Radar & Panel sizing

Personally I prefer to drive with a large radar since I use this window at least 90% of the time. 360 Degrees of glorious battle in your eyeballs! However, a large radar obviously means a large panel. Now THAT I don't want. Who wants to see 15-20 lines of text while driving? 3 to 5 would be more rea...

Not much you say? Very neat I say! Love the clean feel to it, and it seems to be great for jumping acrobats.

Only...the title. Believe it or not, but the map name 'Titan' was on top of my list of names for a next map! Guess I will have to pick another... :lol-old:
