Re: 1st official pillbox league pick-up contest!

Sorry to be non-communicative, but I'm usually away over the weekend. Due to a bunch of personal problems in real life, I have no time or desire to work on the PHP code for the tournament. Honestly, I'm a pretty lousy hacker, and getting what had up and running was a good bit of work for me. I'd lik...

Re: My third try at running a sever

Here's your clue in the command line output: Queuing ADD message to list server File transfer terminated with error from libcurl 28 : Operation too slow. Less than 1024 bytes/sec transfered the last 10 seconds Something's not getting through to the list server in the first place. Since you're on a W...

Re: iPhone GU league Webpage design 1.

Looks like the site currently wants a minimum of 750px of width. Below that, you have to scroll side to side to read. What's the resolution on an iPhone? It might just be a simple matter of feeding a second style sheet with changes to text size and table cell size to the browser if the width of the ...

Ok then, we're up and running once again. Teams are chosen, and round 1 has started. You have through January 5 to play your matches against your assigned team.

Good luck!

Man, what kind of school do you go to that has Linux computers with BZFlag installed, and how come I didn't get to go there? We still had Trash-80s when I first got to high school, and we then upgraded to Laser 128s.

If you're lucky enough to be using Linux based computers on your school system, it's as simple as opening up a terminal and doing bzfs <switches> Switches are the little -j -world -public -passwd etc. To find out what the switches are, type on in a terminal: man bzfs (man is the "manual") ...

Oh, and to use the global registration, you need add a few things to your configuration rather than simply being signed up here. Unless I'm mistaken, you need the following in your conf to use the global registration: -publicaddr followed by either your external IP address and port the server is lis...

No, you're not automatically an administrator even if you make a server yourself. For casual use over a LAN, you could just add -passwd <your password> to the command line or your conf file when you start the server. If you're not using a command line interface to start the server, I'm not sure what...

Don't play in the pillbox league. It's nasty. Absolutely nasty. In case you want to try it out, the website is http://pillbox.bzleague.com We're having a pickup tournament coming up shortly. It should be a great way to get started if you're still beginning to learn. Individual players sign up, and ...

eveyrone should get used to lag, at the moment it is part of the game, as annoying as it is. That's not quite how it works. If you have a server with 10 people, and 9 of them have lag around 100ms, and one player has lag of 300ms, the 300ms person always has the same situation: shoot ahead of every...

Do a google search for locate ip. You'll find a bunch of tools that let you put in an IP address, and give you a general location. One of the websites has me about 1500 miles away in Kansas, but the rest were within 50 miles of where I'm located. Good enough for this purpose.

Have you tried setting the quality level down to medium under Options->Display Settings->Quality? It certainly won't look as nice, but it might save you some trouble.

Also, have you checked that you have an up-to-date driver for your video card from Intel?

You can have both, but you'll need to install them into separate directories. Since you're compiling, I'm assuming you're running Linux. I'm also assuming you compiled your 2.0.10 installation. Most package managers put the server in /usr/bin/, but if you compile it, it puts it in /usr/local/bin/ Al...

Well, that's something anyway. The thing I'm confused about is what to do with this token once I get it back to me. I tried setting up a test server with the -dddd switch on. It looks like the server sends a string that includes what groups the server wants to check against. In my case, it was EVERY...

Integrating BZLeague with the spawn groups list

I'm working on some PHP code for the upcoming Pillbox League pick-up tournament. What I'd like to be able to do is make it so that I get a bzmail in the Pillbox website whenever a player signs up for the tournament, but is not on the PBLEAGUE.PLAYERS list so that I can add them and they can spawn on...

And the sentence right after that...
The bug tracker is preferred, because we can more easily track the bugs and record when they are fixed.
I brought it up, because there's only 4 bugs at the moment that are newer than 30 days.

You're using the old system to log in. We don't use it anymore. Assuming you're using one of the 2.0 versions of bzflag, all you have to do to sign in is use the same nick as you're using on this bulletin board, and put the same password in the password field. The rest _should_ be done for you. If y...

Your firewall should allow you to make an exception for bzflag so the bzflag traffic gets through.
