Re: IRC meeting to discuss BZFlag Replacement Project
Resurrecting an old thread eh? Anyway, I believe JeffM's working on a game similar to bzflag in C#.

I fail to understand the difference.HiX and Duc for example require skill, while The Two Tanks - Laser Sniping or such require good tactics.

Re: BZFLAG.org Chat Room ... can we make one?
It's not like more than 20+ players are playing at any given time anyway. 20 at a time is not bad at all - you can actually follow what someone is saying, versus #fw on Efnet for instance.

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
Oh the dumbing down of the audience. Other game forums bemoan the same thing. Coming from other games, there's no leveling up. When I first started playing BZFlag, this didn't register anyway. BZFlag is almost entirely about skill. Some take a month or two to become good players; it took me four yea...

What an interesting idea, Squerril. Putting the "onus" on the players instead of someone else doing it for them. How did it work out?

Thank you so much for hosting those maps. I spent countless hours of high school and college years on those maps, especially the ones by louman. His name is tied to a lot of happy memories of having great fun playing bzflag.

"Internet troll"? This must be unique indeed, as that's the first (and hopefully the last) time I've ever seen that rank designation. Props to the board owners

Interesting bit about GM activation time, blast, thank you very much for that. Is that based on the clock tick inside the game?

The Server is called "Planet Mofo". Shouldn't that already ring alarm bells in a discerning person/parent? It's in the title for heaven's sakes! Even if you do get there, you could always press "K" to silence offensive players (press F2 for autocomplete), or just turn off the mes...

Error when building bzflag
Hi. I'm trying to install BZFlag 2.4 on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 (32-bit). Autogen.sh works fine, as does ./configure. g++ is installed. When running the make command, the process crashes when it enters the "src" folder, like so: make[2]: Entering directory `/home/yosefk/Desktop/bzf...

Cobra_Fast - my approach is to keep everything on Google Docs. To start with there is news, new maps, gameplay tips, pictures, and a joke. In the future I hope to have interviews from map creators. I mass-message people on the forums, so whoever plays BZFlag under a registered nick will see that the...

Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens
Mopar Madness - Combat Arms is exclusively a 3D game. Do you spend any time even looking up at the map? It doesn't even show you enemies! Also, read what some of the devs are saying. The game was originally developed as an offline multiplayer. Along the way it got nice graphics and online networking...

Any emails that do exist, FangUp, would be found through this forum. You could try to individually PM people, but that's a long and thankless chore. Good luck.

By main page, I meant the HELP option on the first screen that shows up when you start BZ, but the same could be transferred as a web page too.

Re: BzFlag is dying
How about completely overhauling the layout of the HELP option on the main page? Change the text from size 8 to size 14, introduce c o l o r s , lists, headings , and give some simple strategies for different flags, tips on gameplay, and a caution against ragequitting. I would drop everything to wri...

Re: IRC meeting to discuss BZFlag Replacement Project
1. What players should any future releases of bzflag be aimed at? The best thing about 2.0.x is that it runs on computers that are up to 10 years old, giving it a wide potential player base. If you make version 2.3 and on incompatible, that ability might be lost. Do we assume that most players play ...

It would be even better if an automated voice would drone "Target acquired" when locking on someone. Pimpinella - what you suggest for number 2 can also be done in reverse, where whoever locks on you flashes on the radar until you or they die, or until one tick since the bullet shot has pa...

I'm surprised no one has mentioned using /highlight, like so: /highlight "locked on me". Extremely useful, but has the slight disadvantage of highlighting "locked on meredith", where me-xxxx is a person's callsign.

Sounds familiar. Someone accused me of using the colored flag cheat on the trench warfare map just a few days ago, AND claimed to be an admin on several servers to boot.
