Re: Playing BZFlag on a multiseat setup

You could certainly run a local server (bzfs) on the same machine.

Re: Need help with Internet connection

Press the 't' key and wait a second, and you should see a small "FPS: " counter on the screen.

I have a server list that sorts by servers closer to you (based on GeoIP, so not super accurate but close enough in most cases): https://www.bzexcess.com/geolist/

Mottos are shown by default when the scoreboard is shown. You can adjust the maximum display length of mottos in the options.

Re: Jump Session Linger

This would not be possible in the current protocol. We only get the shot initial position, but are not able to get it's end position, much less getting it's position at any point in time. If we are able to get enough shot data and player positioning information, it can either be implemented within ...

Re: Auto -re-/set defaults on first player join

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure that BZDB values set at startup are set to be the default value. So a '/reset *', for instance, will reset all settings back to what the server config or world had defined.

Re: Auto -re-/set defaults on first player join

It would probably be the ResetServerAlwaysFile actually, since that would restart the server every time it emptied. ResetServerOnceFile is more when you want to restart a server for maintenance (such as upgrading to a new bzfs binary) after it has emptied.

I don't have the energy at the moment to investigate this, and I'm not going to blindly enable such a feature. This is something you can easily pull from your backend, optionally caching it in your backend.

Re: Access-Control-Allow-Origin

The site is not intended to be consumed directly by browsers. I'm not familiar enough with the edge cases and security implications of that header given that we do use my.bzflag.org for authentication purposes.

Re: Callsign infos on in-game dialog pop-up

The league is not directly affiliated with the BZFlag project.

Having additional information or things like an in-game avatar would be neat, but we'd have to standardize on some dimensions for the avatars and have some sort of moderation system in place.

Re: Discord Plug-in

The bzfs API itself provides "URL jobs" which let you make HTTP requests. Use that instead of directly linking your plugin to libcurl. I have an example of that in an old plugin I wrote. There's also other examples on some Github repos. https://bitbucket.org/blast007/bz_playerdb_plugin/src/default/p...

Re: Screen goes darker at random times

I was not able to reproduce it on a Windows 10 laptop with a i7-4610M / Intel HD 4600 (also hybrid with some AMD Radeon chip) on either Windows 10 build 1803 nor the May 2019 update, but that's two generations of Intel older than yours. I was thinking that was my most recent system with the option o...

Re: pass flag to middle

Ah, yes, I was mistakenly thinking that it was meshboxes that had the glitchy behavior, but it is indeed the 'meshed' box (normal box with mesh attributes added) that has the drivethrough glitch.

Re: OAuth2 for BZFlag.org

BZFlag does not currently offer an OAuth2 login system. Our weblogin system is an old custom-made thing. There's some details in our checkToken.php file (which can be used to verify the token that weblogin returns). https://github.com/BZFlag-Dev/bzflag/blob/2.4/misc/checkToken.php One major limitati...

Re: pass flag to middle

Tried using a box instead of a meshbox? I don't think there much of any reason to use the mesh variants of our primitive objects. The normal box and pyramid objects can use mesh options like materials.

Re: pass flag to middle

Is it specifically a "meshbox" object you're using, or is it a "mesh" object? If it's a "mesh" object, you can add an inside point somewhere inside the object to make it a solid object. I believe that in that situation, the flag would then fly back to the base instead of the center, at least if you ...

Re: Screen goes darker at random times

If the brightness option is missing, it's not a config issue. It means that SDL is failing to set the brightness, so the option is being disabled. When this happens, BZFlag does write out the SDL error to stdout, but you won't normally see that. Open a command prompt and run: cd "\Program Files (x86...

Re: Setup issues

Yeah, our default controls are definitely a bit odd. I've got a rough idea of improving the control system/menu for a later release, with an option to reset the key mapping to "modern" or "classic" mode. For CTF, you locate another teams' flag on the radar, grab it, and take it back to your own base...
