Re: pass flag to middle

Ah, yes, I was mistakenly thinking that it was meshboxes that had the glitchy behavior, but it is indeed the 'meshed' box (normal box with mesh attributes added) that has the drivethrough glitch.

Re: OAuth2 for BZFlag.org

BZFlag does not currently offer an OAuth2 login system. Our weblogin system is an old custom-made thing. There's some details in our checkToken.php file (which can be used to verify the token that weblogin returns). https://github.com/BZFlag-Dev/bzflag/blob/2.4/misc/checkToken.php One major limitati...

Re: pass flag to middle

Tried using a box instead of a meshbox? I don't think there much of any reason to use the mesh variants of our primitive objects. The normal box and pyramid objects can use mesh options like materials.

Re: pass flag to middle

Is it specifically a "meshbox" object you're using, or is it a "mesh" object? If it's a "mesh" object, you can add an inside point somewhere inside the object to make it a solid object. I believe that in that situation, the flag would then fly back to the base instead of the center, at least if you ...

Re: Screen goes darker at random times

If the brightness option is missing, it's not a config issue. It means that SDL is failing to set the brightness, so the option is being disabled. When this happens, BZFlag does write out the SDL error to stdout, but you won't normally see that. Open a command prompt and run: cd "\Program Files (x86...

Re: Setup issues

Yeah, our default controls are definitely a bit odd. I've got a rough idea of improving the control system/menu for a later release, with an option to reset the key mapping to "modern" or "classic" mode. For CTF, you locate another teams' flag on the radar, grab it, and take it back to your own base...

Re: Anyway to hide "outdated" from list of servers?

Either run the client with the extra arguments "-list default" once or edit your config file to remove the "set list" line. You would have the http:// version of the server list on there, which is triggering that message.

I would think that users of NoScript would know that it blocks javascript, web fonts, and audio/video objects. Maybe you'd be better off with something like uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger.

New BZFlag homepage

We have a new website! Woo! This has been in the works for at least 9 months, and we were finally ready to release it. Most of it was done by allejo and it really turned out great. We also had some players from the community work on some of the documentation: Zehra, tainn, and The Noah. https://www....

Note that there are multiple versions of the GNU GPL license. See the "How to Apply These Terms to Your New Programs" section for how to indicate the licensing and if it allows for using any later version of the GPL. Thanks!

I think just making the detailed mesh drivethrough would do the same thing as converting it to drawinfo.

Re: Multiline map comments

For what's worth, I do encounter cases where I have to (temporarily) remove a section of objects, though I simply use two separate text files to achieve that. Maybe multi-line comments might make that more elegant, though there are simple workarounds now already. For most other games, this is a gen...

That's not who banned you. That's the name of a player that was banned. Sometimes to keep problem players out, a chunk of an ISP has to be banned. There are ways to whitelist specific registered users or in some cases an old ban can just be removed or modified.

Re: BzEdit

There was a BZWorkbench project that was going to be the official map editor, but that hasn't been touched in many years and would still need some major work done to be finished. As it stands right, a 3D modeling program of choice plus our modeltool can you most of a map created, with some final tou...

Re: bzflag graphics improvements?

Yeah... that game also recommends having an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i5-8600K paired with an AMD RX Vega 56 or nVidia GTX 1070. Complete other end of the spectrum. That isn't to say that a future version of BZFlag won't require better hardware than we currently do, but I don't foresee require...

I have this running at xs.bzexcess.com:5163 currently.

I did notice that there is a death physics driver in the map, but it wasn't hooked up to anything. There was also a define for water that wasn't used.

Re: King Of The Ring by ahs3

The client never receives the actual world file. Only the server has all of the map file information. The client's save world feature recreates a BZW file from the binary object data that the client receives from the server, so it will not match the original map file. Additionally, it won't know abo...
