Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo

That's not who banned you. That's the name of a player that was banned. Sometimes to keep problem players out, a chunk of an ISP has to be banned. There are ways to whitelist specific registered users or in some cases an old ban can just be removed or modified.

Re: BzEdit

There was a BZWorkbench project that was going to be the official map editor, but that hasn't been touched in many years and would still need some major work done to be finished. As it stands right, a 3D modeling program of choice plus our modeltool can you most of a map created, with some final tou...

Nah, was just a joke. :) To be honest, it's been so long since I've driven through a box with OO that I kinda forgot that was a thing.

If we want to look more up-to-date, we should replace the triangles with emojis.

Re: bzflag graphics improvements?

Yeah... that game also recommends having an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i5-8600K paired with an AMD RX Vega 56 or nVidia GTX 1070. Complete other end of the spectrum. That isn't to say that a future version of BZFlag won't require better hardware than we currently do, but I don't foresee require...

Re: Apotheosis

I have this running at xs.bzexcess.com:5163 currently.

I did notice that there is a death physics driver in the map, but it wasn't hooked up to anything. There was also a define for water that wasn't used.

Re: King Of The Ring by ahs3

The client never receives the actual world file. Only the server has all of the map file information. The client's save world feature recreates a BZW file from the binary object data that the client receives from the server, so it will not match the original map file. Additionally, it won't know abo...

Re: Not all weapons should do 100% damage

As long as the fork doesn't deviate from the list server format, you could continue to use the BZFlag server list. The protocol string should be 4 uppercase letters and 4 numbers. This change also would not be particularly difficult to implement.

Re: Object Properties per Team

Plugins cannot do that. That would be a protocol-breaking change that would require changes to the client and server.

Re: Server List question - different version of bzflag

That is not a change we will make. We don't often break protocol, and when we do there are announcements. The community is small enough that word gets around fast.

Re: Server List question - different version of bzflag

Sorry, I don't understand the complaint then. Strayer's BZStats site does list the servers for all versions of BZFlag. (It just incorrectly lists 2.5 servers as 2.4.x)

Because we have a Flatpak (which isn't linked on our current site but will be on our new site).

I'd assume it would use the same texture index, just for a different color. Regardless, it's not a possible feature in 2.4.x.

Re: Wiki about BZAuthd

It's not clear what you're pointing out as issues. We're not going to be using a BZAuthd and will continue to use web-based tech. And since 2.4.4 we've been using HTTPS communication to the list server and forums.

It's not going to be any kind of automatic system. I just mean that I'll be able to set up various scenarios and scenes and then take screenshots (mainly for some of the page banners). For instance, I can mess around with different settings to change the visual look while scene the same. bzfi0014.pn...

stagedSceneGenerator

I've been working on a plugin that would help with creating screenshots for the BZFlag website redesign. This plugin allows setting up a stage of tanks and shots at fixed locations. So, for example, I can get something like this: by_our_powers_combined_thumb.png by_our_powers_combined.png A configur...

Re: Quick keys issue

Yes, those seem to be hard coded. You can change the behavior if you'd be okay with modifying the code and compiling. The actual handling of quick keys is in the doKeyPlaying function in playing.cxx and the menu text is defined in QuickKeysMenu.cxx . A simple change might just be changing the code t...
