Re: BZFlag has become less fun

I do think the game is still fun, but I think it was more fun a few years ago. Perhaps that was because of the maps that were popular then, and the people that were on them. I think the game could very much use a graphics update, and I think it would be nice if the community as a whole could pick so...

udied, to give you a kinder answer, yes. You install the python interpreter to run python programs, just like you install a JVM to run Java programs and web applets. Go to http://www.python.org/download/ and get the windows installer, then you should be able to run his program.

You can specify --with-libdir=/some/path to have it put all of the plugins in some directory (after make install) for easy access if you wanted.

Thanks for the suggestion Enigma, unfortunately it didn't work :(

I tried both the libcurl path and physicall giving it the .so file, but neither worked. They both give the same output, as does giving it the LDFLAGS and CPPFLAGS.

Compiling on Solaris

So I have a Sunblade 100 sitting around and I thought I'd give compiling a shot on it. I've run into a few errors on both 2.0.11, 2.0.10, and 2.0.8, but the leading problem right now seems to be this error message: ../c-ares/.libs/libcares.a ../regex/.libs/libregex.a ../date/.libs/libDate.a /usr/loc...

Well, the Mets are the greatest sports team in the history of the world, minus this year and the end of the last season, which, eh em, we won't talk about :) So I'd have to say mine.

Or on a more serious note, probably Spazzy's

I changed SW limit to 5 actually, and i lowered the radius a bit. Geno shot limit is 2, GM 25, laser unlimited. I also powered up the GM's as many people were complaining they were too weak. I've got about 100 reports to go through, so hopefully I'll have a chance to change whatever else people were...

I agree with junker. There's a great ssh client called PuTTY that you can use. One version is called Portable PuTTY and another, pocketPuTTY. Portable PuTTY works on iPods (so it says) and I've used pocketPuTTY to do Verilog simulations on linux machines from my windows mobile phone. It actually wor...

weird autogen.sh problem

I tried to recompile from source yesterday, and I ran into a weird problem when I ran autogen.sh. I get the following output. mets@baseball:~/bzflag-2.0.10$ sh autogen.sh : command not found: : command not found: : command not found: : command not found: : command not found: : command not found: : c...

Cool map! It's really different. It's a big help that you included all of the settings, because trying to figure that out for something involving underwater would have been kinda tricky to get right. The plant life is awesome, the subs look cool, the trench is great, and it overall is a really profe...

Actually I think it might be because bzflag uses OpenGL, and your graphics card might have to make some adjustments to your screen to make it run properly. Mine does something similar, although it goes back to normal when I exit the game.

I can't seem to fix the problem but I did find a work around. I just did what newplug.sh does manually (add the appropriate line to Makefile.am in the plugin directory and the configure.ac file) then re-ran autogen.sh and ./configure and everything seems to work.

compiling problems

hey guys, I seem to have run into some issues compiling bzflag from source. In the past I've always been able to do it, but for some reason when I tried yesterday when I was building a new plugin I started to get some errors. I think it may be because I just reinstalled Ubuntu, but I can't figure ou...

Nice sounds. I absolutely love the laser sound, although I was kind of disappointed with the GM and SW sounds. Some of the sounds are a little fuzzy, like when you shoot and get shot at. A little bit more work on the set and making them a bit crisper and it should be a really nice addition.

weird sound in Ubuntu

hey guys, I recently installed Ubuntu, and of course, one of the first things I did was re-download BZFlag. I was really surprised, however, to find that the sound is just flat out awful. It's muffled, muted, and seriously distorted. A far cry from what I have been use to. Does anybody know why this...

Wow, fixed the problem. Smoothing and Blending were set to OFF by default in the Display Settings. Somebody might want to check that out. I downloaded it off of the Sydney and Kent servers on sourceforge - both had bad default config files.
