I think it might have been a bit too soon to start doing real cash prizes. It might have been a better idea to have a few tournaments just for bragging rights. Just to get things going you know. Then later once we've established a proper way to do the tournaments, and people are used to them, then ...

Um, I never got any info about signing up for the event???? Charging money for the event might one of the major problems, but having no clue about where to sign up to the tournament is a killer. Did you mention this in a post waaay back? I was expecting a new post about rules and regulations. The r...

The tournament is cancelled!

With no registrations there is no use in trying to have it. No interest... no tourney. Sorry to have wasted your time... I guess it's an idea which is not yet ready for prime time.

Re: BZFlag Custom Map: Diamonds are Forever 1.0

This is my third effort and I like the final product. I've ran this on my home server for a couple days and it got some play but my capped upstream makes it hard for more than 5 or so to play. The one problem I have is the "diamonds" are "pass through" as if they weren't really ...

Re: 1.7g2 is in the Hizzzouz

It's done. Windows, Linux, and souce packages have been posted. Head on over to sourceforge and download away. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3248 and as with all things it seems a mac version will be done later. turkey is purely a server... it does not run X in any shape or ...

Re: What kind of server

I am considering starting my own bzFlag server. I'd like to know what kind of connection/machine the most popular servers run off of. Namely servers like ducati, turkey.moongroup.com, and hashmark.net. Are they hosted off of a private machine at your residence or off of a paid webserver? Will a reg...

Re: EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!! -- SERVER OPERATORS PLEASE READ

bzfs version 1.7g0 and below are vulnerable to a denial of service attack. An exploit for this has been written and released into the wild by a helpful fellow who goes by the name of "russian code molester." Current CVS is not vulnerable to this bug, so please upgrade! This denail-of-serv...

Re: bzflag.secretplace.us down temporarily.

I killed off the bzfs process, because there were so many issues with it. The server just changed IP numbers yesterday, and there seems to be some sort of DOS attack against servers, and secretplace has fallen victim a few times in the last few days. I have to go and redo some routing on the server...

Re: Server owners -- PLEASE READ...

Heya, I'd just like to ask if all server owners could please tell patlabor, or myself (via PM), who the admins are on your servers, we will grant them access to the 'hidden forums' here - if they'd like to use them. If it's too much hassle, don't sweat it, but they may like, or need, some of the in...

On the turkey server, when modified Mad City was up, I came on for a little lunchtime play and immediately got ST. Someone was taking a GM to the top of the middle tower, so naturally, I went after him. Once he was dead (via the old back jump on to the corner pylon trick) I climbed up and sure enou...

Bagheera is right, score is kinda irrelevant, it is the kill ratio and respect for other players that really counts. If you are nice to people it makes the game more enjoyable regardless of the score. And if you are truly a BZ expert the kill ratio is what matters. Of course the score is great to h...

the new turkey map

The new revision might be overly complex I was afraid of that, but felt that the map was rather unbalanced. The flags seemed to gravitate towards the center which really bothers me for some reason, so I threw in the center structure. If anyone has any ideas to fix this flag problem I'd sure like to...

If I understand correclty the new cop will have a system of checks and ballances. And just asking to be a cop will not get you in. There will be a "rookie" period. Periodically I get asked by Merry (and others) how they can become an admin on turkey. Sometimes that question is asked such ...

I agree that the GM thing is a problem, although an easily fixed one (i still consider it to be more of a bug in bzflag than map design though :) ). enjoy!
