Have you made sure that in the monitor resolution in BZFlag settings, the actual SCREEN refresh rate is set to 60hertz (i.e 1900x1200 @ 60hz) and not 72hz, as an experiment I tried setting my LCD to that rate and I did notice some blur in BZ, but i'm thinking it would be more apparent in a large res...

Sorry to bump a month old thread, but I'm getting the same problem! I recently used "wubi" to set up a dual boot for windows and Kubuntu, and got vid drivers. etc. BZFlag works nicely, I can even use it with beryl :D , but I can't seem to get the sound working properly.I've got creative on...

I convinced someone on a certain server (easy to guess which one) to do set something... here's an example of why NOT, as an admin, to type in /set _drawSky 0 if you have an nvidia card, (mine is a 7600gt and i got this glitch) it will royally screw over the graphics in the sky area. Same will happe...

thanks louman, my weapon works now ;) I've done some experimenting with this plugin, it seems as though that the delay time that is specified in the weapon is useless, because the timer is always reset when a player re-enters the zone. For example with a delay time of 120(2 minutes), I'll assume I h...

There IS time limit (read  ), and yes players that do join the server have to wait for the next round, but not too long because, as I suggested, rounds shouldn't take more than 5 minutes :) (unless it's what server wants  ) Your *lives* suggestion seems alright, nice break from tradition...

New server mode, Round based games.

Hello, I was thinking if BZFlag could add a new game mode for BZFlag with round based games, sorta like what a lot of other first person shooters consist of. This mode will hugely boost the tactics this game needs. Instead of respawning the instant you die, there are rounds, and you respawn at the b...

Error for compiled 2.1.x: zlib1.dll

Recently when compiling and running 2.1.x(release), I've been getting this error when trying to launch the executable: "bzflag.exe - Ordinal Not Found" "The ordinal 55 could not be located in the dynamic link library zlib1.dll" I have got zlib1.dll installed, and I've tried chang...

well.. from what I know BZFlag uses OpenGL 2.0, and you're saying "Hardware acceleration for OpenGL 1.5". Either turning on hardware acceleration forces it to OpenGL 1.5 which makes it slower, or having it off makes it use software acceleration, which means it's using the processor fully i...

you can do that, but it makes the game protocol incompatible with 2.0.x, you would have to change the protocol ( since you are changing the rules ). and then you aren't bzflag, but a fork of bzflag ( a slightly different game ). The server can not magically make the client draw stuff, or decide whe...

why the inflexibility, just add a server variable for *hits to kill* which will always be default set to 1, and if the variable is higher than 1, a small bar shows up somewhere with your HP. Standard servers wouldn't use it, but very unique ones would. And it would be up to the server owners to advi...

blame microsoft, they probably haven't included openGL support for Vista.

I've heard with the release they're gonna use some crappy tool which emulates it into Direct3D, which beyond doubt will make it slower, delibarately making direct3D look better.

Louman you've done it again, this map rocks! I hate to be critical though, but on the server with this map I noticed that one of the variables were "_drawSky 0" This is not a good thing, older graphics cards (ones on MAC OS X i've seen anyway) will spew on this, they'll draw whatever is ar...

I had these same problems before when I updated my sound drivers with the dreaded windows update, and never realised it. What you should do is either get the latest drivers for your sound card from the manufactuerers website, or roll back to the earliest sound drivers you have.
