text flicker on intel graphics

Hi folks,
I am trying to setup bzflag using intel 630 graphics on Linux. Problem: The text in the radar window flickers, if I set radar opacity to 100%. I haven't seen this on my own PC using NVidia yet. How comes?

Every helpful comment is highly appreciated

I am not sure about the terminology, but I saw a launch trailer of Dirt Rally 2. The graphics is spectacular.

bzflag graphics improvements?

Meaning no offense, but bzflag looks almost the same as 20 years ago. Computer graphics have improved a *lot* in the last 20 years, so I wonder if it would be possible to improve bzflag accordingly?

no maps yet

When I started playing there were no custom maps yet, just a random set of blocks and a few teleports.

building HEAD: m4/curl.m4 missing?

Hi folks, trying to build bzflag of HEAD today, I stumbled over this: Making all in plugins make[2]: Entering directory `/u/harri/src/bzflag/CVS/HEAD/bzflag/plugins' make[2]: *** No rule to make target `m4/curl.m4', needed by `Makefile.in'. CVS version out of date?

Hi folks,

Is it possible that the new version 2.0.6 is not on CVS? I came looking for bug fixes, but AFAICS the last checkin happened on March 30th (v2_0branch).

alsa sound lagging?

Hi folks,

Using 2.0.5.20060301 on Linux (Debian, amd64):

If I use pure Alsa instead of the OSS emulation, then the sound is delayed for about half a second or so.

Any ideas?

Problem found

The problem occurs only for gcc 4.x. Using gcc 3.4.4 to build bzflag the problem is gone.

amd64, CVS head: can't connect to local server

Hi folks, Seems that I cannot connect to my own server. The server gets started, but when I try to connect I get a message Error unpacking world database. Join canceled. bzflag -debug says BZFlag version: 2.0.5.20051023-DEVEL-linux-gnu-SDL OpenGL vendor: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL version: 1.5.3 NVID...

Re: team play is not honored :-(

I think one important aspect is that the team members of the caught flag loose points. If they don't do team play, then they will loose ponts again. I am pretty sure that team play will improve with such a change. So what is a good team player? From the SW developer's point of view we need something...

team play is not honored :-(

Hi folks, Why don't I get points for team play? This is a severe restriction of CTF. I was just on silvercat. Most players were sitting on their Wings or GM or Laser flags, and just a few cared for the team flags. Why should they, they don't win or loose points if anybody catches a foreign flag. 1st...

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

I still can't shoot anybody, not even with the current 2.0.5 version on CVS. This is _very_ annoying. What's going on here? Is amd64 (Debian) not supported? Too difficult? How can I help?

My lagstats looks completely normal (e.g. Silvercat: 200ms). But maybe I should mention that I am running BZFlag on Debian amd64, i.e. LP64. BZFlag is the cvs HEAD.

can't shoot anybody with new CVS version

See subject. There should be some compatibility mode for bzflag 2.0.3 to make it work with old servers. This will increase the number of volunteers running the new version.

Anybody remember Arena on SGI? I haven't found a screenshot online yet, but AFAIR the idea was very close to bzflag.
