Ahem. There's already a patch out to add the pingtimes to the client server menu. (Written by yours truly) Check it out at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=303248. Hopefully, it will be a part of BZFlag 2.2

Did you install any updates recently?

Does running bzflag -window -geometry 640x480 work?

Depends on my mood:

Classical/Early Music
Simon Fraser University Pipe Band - A hot, hot band
Gregorian Chant

Yea some do. Even though all the Australian/New Zealand servers say its an OZ/NZ server, I still see people coming into the servers screaming 'LAAAAAAAG' when their like trying to play from the moon. If there was a ping extension people would be most tempted to look at that. I'd definetely use it f...

If you're not a developer, then you can safely ignore the warnings. They just mean that who ever coded that little bit was being sloppy.

As to if it will be stable... No clue, this is just what ever the devs have been tinkering on. Wait till 2.2 is released if you want a stable release.

The reason you have such high lag is that servers around here are rather far from Hong Kong. Longer distance for electricity to travel (among other things). Yes, your best bet would be to find servers in Asia. There may be some in Australia, too. There was some discussion about this a little while a...

Yeah - I knew that. But the wzflag source isn't available yet.

Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and find wzflag is just a joke.

I for one support the devs' decision to merge with warzone. Bzflag will benefit greatly from the added functionality. I can't wait for an alpha to be released.

In fact, I wonder if I could join the dev team to speed up the development.

If not, I'll wait along with everyone else.

That would help, though everything for me would be.well orangy or red if say blue was the color indicator for a server close to home and red was the indicator for a server furthest away. Kinda sucks when you enter a server, just get started playing and already get warnings to leave :P Oh well :) Sa...

Pingtimes in server list

Just thought I'd float an idea and see what people think.

Wouldn't it be nice if the server list displayed some sort of indication of the ping time of the server next to it's description, maybe color coded? That way, I'd know better than to join a server halfway around the world.

No - Only the receiver needs the patch. If you know that someone has the patch, you can honk your horn and they will hear it. You won't, however. Now, what would be nice would be to change what is sent on the clientquery to include something that says that you can hear horns. PM or email me if you k...

Lowest lag I've seen was me ( :D ) playing anywhere on Planet MoFo's old San Diego server from my dorm connection... I would get 15ms ping, no joke. People would notice and assume it was my server, and I was playing from the same local network. :lol-old: I get about 20ms just playing on localhost. ...

Reasonable lag

I am curious. How would you folks define high lag/jitter? What ranges would you say are reasonable? Lately, my lag has been pretty reasonable (for me with dialup - 300ms - 400ms, or even 300ms - 350ms), but I've been kicked quite lot for high lag. So I am wondering what you would consider acceptable...

If you use linux, you might be able to add it without compiling. How do I add it? (in linux) If you compile your own client, look up the patch command. Skip the rest. Which version of bzflag? Which package did you install BZFlag with? Where is bzflag installed? (try running "which bzflag"...

what I'd like to know is how you expect to add a source code patch with out compiling.... as the act of compiling takes source code and converts it into a machine executable program. I was thinking of distributing a binary. The Vaxorcist cross compiler won't cut it, it'll build an SDL build for win...

Patch to add a horn to your tank

A while ago, there was some discussion about adding a horn to bzflag http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3785 , so I wrote a patch for it. This is a patch, so to use it you have to compile your own client. If you don't know how to do this, forget about trying it out (unless someone is kind enoug...

Tried that already - doesn't work.

You're right, it's very picky. I just read recently that bzflag will accept both stereo or mono. So it's not that.

BTW, I converted it with sox - if that has anything to do with it.

*Sigh*
