Re: BZFlag Postgame

I do not only like the idea of BZFlag Postgame but also the current implementation. Pretty good. :o)

I'm not sure whether that's the right topic for your question, but: Yes, why not. Are you asking as a voluntary organizer? :)

Oh...impressive size comparison. It's as usual: Size matters. ;)

Fortunately for the players' wallets, BZFlag tanks do not need a gas tank refueling.

@jadespicy Too bad. I don't seem to understand you and/or vice versa. So, a last try because vacation ends today... Changing the scoring system to give less weight to results as they get older This is basically some sort of system where players' rating gain/loss decays in relation to their past his...

Re: A new year, a new beginning.

@Bullet Catcher : Good points. I spent several days (or even weeks) just for playing around with different formulas. So, your points were something we already discussed. (Unfortunately, the pretty old postings to that topic have been deleted due to the old "auto-delete" settings. But ther...

Re: A new year, a new beginning.

I was perusing the 1vs1.bzflag.net website, and i thought that perhaps there was room for improvement. Not only with the website, but with the 1vs1 league itself. You are right. The website (and its design and features) are pretty old. Since I'm lazy and kinda conservative I never saw the need to c...

The mentioned issues has been temporarily fixed. However, within the next 24 hours it might happen all players will be set on the "retired" state again. Feel free to ignore this issue if it appears again. All official matches will count as official ones (even if the plug-in tells you somet...

Re: CTF 1v1 idea

Hm, sounds more like an idea for GU League to me. Especially when I check the differences of the idea and the both leagues (GU and 1vs1) it seeems much more to be just a slightly modified GU thingy.

GU League
+ HIX
+ CTF
+ timed
- one vs one

1vs1 League
+ HIX

Re: Open letter from Bzflag.norang.ca

Well, as players already said - norang will be missed but thank you very much for all the resources you put into bzfs hosting! I did some quick (and hopefully correct) statisticts (for the last 7 years only - since 2006-10-27 until 2013-01-01 01:30:01 UTC) - 149 different servers by name and port (3...

https://github.com/catay/OneVsOne is the correct source repository. As you might know git allows different branches. The one you are looking for is 2.4_compat . (If you want to view the files via web-browser you can use https://github.com/catay/OneVsOne/tree/2.4_compat ) First, check for existing 2....

Re: Aztec Pyramids (Host?)

You should definitely test your own worlds/maps before looking for an host. I doubt anyone will be interested running untested maps. I hope I didn't misunderstand you - but as long as you aren't even able to test your own maps you shouldn't spread them. (Especially when knowing how absolutely easy i...

Re: 1v1 with Superflags?

One idea behind the 1vs1 styles was/is to improve dodging skills for team-league matches. And as blast pointed out, it would be pretty unfair if you pick up one of the superflags which is more powerful on the classic/hix/fancy field because there are two players only.

Re: Reset zelo and timelimit

That's exactly what Glicko2 and TrueSkill were made for. The current ZELO formula seems to have more deficits than the old one. At least, it doesn't contain a calc bug like the old formula but it seems to be unsuitable for 1vs1 League as red-der pointed out last week. So the formula will change...ei...

Re: Logging server with BZAdmin

No problem...you still can choose between Perl and Python. ;)

Seriously, you obviously don't have any knowledge of (script) programming. I suggest learning the basics before you proceed with querying BZFlag servers. There are a lot of beginner tutorials (PHP, Perl, Python) in the internet.

linuxdude2, you should really do some more research. Check BZFlag's SourceForge page , download the source and have a look into the misc folder like blast told you. In "bzflag/bzflag/misc/" you'll find a set of more or less useful scripts. Most important for you are the scripts starting wi...

New ZELO rating formula replaces old one

2012-03-18 - New ZELO rating replaces old one. You might have noticed the old ZELO rating system had a few disadvantages. One was that a match winner could lose ZELO score points if the opponent had less than 1000 ZELO points before the match. Another was the unbalanced amount of ZELO points for a ...
