Re: Windows 7 Crash Problem
I have the driver right before the most recent one because for some reason the newest one crashes continuously. I just reinstalled Linux after reimaging to 7, so now I can play BZFlag here, but for some reason I can't change the game's brightness. Computers are dumb.

Windows 7 Crash Problem
I am running Windows 7 32 bit on a Lenovo W500 with an ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 graphics card. BZFlag seemingly randomly crashes, usually within five minutes of when I start playing. I can't connect the crashes to any specific event, so I don't even know where to start reporting a bug. I guess I'm ...

Re: SDL on Ubuntu
I had no idea there was a package for it. I searched before I went to download it on my own, but didn't see it. Thanks!

SDL on Ubuntu
I'm trying to compile BZFlag on Ubuntu 9.04, and found out that I didn't have SDL. I downloaded SDL 1.2.13 and am trying to install it. Configure runs fine, but when I try to make it I get owen@Badassasaurus:~/Desktop/SDL-1.2.13$ make /bin/bash ./libtool --mode=compile gcc -g -O2 -I./include -D_GNU_...

Re: Mouse Vs. Keyboard
I don't have a mouse yet for my laptop at college so I've been using keyboard. I hadn't realized just how much of a difference it makes having to fire and lock on with the same hand that I usually use only for jumping and radar control. It's much more difficult to keep track of where your fingers ar...

Re: Voting
All of the issues with typing and long names, etc. would be solved by an entirely graphical/menu based polling system like blast is talking about. But there's another issue that I'd like to bring up on this thread, which I don't think I saw. It's happened to me twice that a particular player (Hattor...

Re: Dodging GM's while in the air
I don't see why jerking backwards and forwards would do anything. You're just racing against the GM's turn rate; it has instantaneous reaction time. The best way to to dodge is to be moving at maximum speed (forward) at an angle as close to 90 degrees to the path of the GM as possible.

Re: Mouse Vs. Keyboard
Just a question: how many of you folks who prefer keyboard have actually spent significant amounts of time practicing with the mouse? I started with keyboard, and when I initially switched to mouse it was hard to get used to, especially with jumping. But once I got accustomed to it, I had a lot more...

Re: Hotplate
Hmm... I'm having a vision of a map where everywhere is like this, and you have to keep moving continuously to live. But not like that map with the obnoxious SWs that follow you around.

Re: Killing phrase
The only way I can see this being a possibility is if there were an option on the other end to disable it. So you would have the option to receive personalized messages, but wouldn't be forced to. And it would start disabled. But it's not worth the effort.

Re: Is BZFlag a especial game?
It's because people who stick to playing BZ flag are almost always intelligent. IMHO the game is more about strategy, thinking quickly, watching radar, etc than just good aim and reflexes.

Re: How would you rate yourself
I wonder if all the people who play exclusively on GU and Ducati are really also that good at other servers. It seems like their mad skills at dodging and rico would be just as effective other places. But those maps are a lot less chaotic than others... so even if someone is marginally better, that ...

The problem with open source . This is one situation where I wish the devs could actually make some money off of BZFlag and make maintaining it their job, instead of just a hobby...

Re: AliceD (AKA Happy Alice)
Man... I just can't imagine... The best part of BZF was always sitting around on Two Tanks with Alice and Temp etc, talking more than playing... she will be missed dearly. That she was always so positive, never letting on that she had a fatal disease... If only everyone could be so kind and strong a...

Spawnkilling, to me, is camping in a location where one can fire on the opposing team's spawnzones. However, when one is doing this with a flag with limited uses, like SW or GM on certain servers, or there are ways for the defending team to easily stop the spawnkiller if they know what they are doin...
