well is shooting yourself with laser an effect you were going for to reduce laser camping? you could make the top mesh drivethrough and shoottrhough. no more getting stuck or shooting yourself and it's the "correct" way.

a tank is 2.08 units high if that helps at all. i don't use wings so i don't know if the units in wings is the same as bz units after you do the bzwtools or what ever. OK so i don't know that much about wings3D :P but in bzunits the tank is 2.08 if that helps ;)

yes! port-forwarding. there was a post on this exact situation a while back. what you can do to test it is enable DMZ to your internal IP. if it works after that then it is a port problem. if it still doesn't work (which i bet it will work) then i have no idea. (but it will work :P)
