Nevermind... I had been using a version of BZFS that was not compiled with plugin support. I have a newly compiled version that works now. Thanks anyway!

Hmm... I can see a variation of you original idea that would work... Instead of dropping your team flag near YOUR base, you would drop it near the ENEMY base, to prevent accidental same-team caps. The flag would then fly back to your base. In other words, Red Team cannot take a Red Team Flag anywher...

Er... I can't seem to load the plugin. I start a local (random-map) server, add flags, set the admin password, log on, and become admin. So far so good. When I type /loadplugin UselessMine.so, I get an "unknown command: /loadplugin UselessMine.so" error. I'm running BZFS 2.0.8 BTW.

So, you've re-done the Wild West? Cool beans! I've never got very much out of the old version. Probably because I've never played with more than one other guy before. Since it's so big, it would make a very good Team Deathmatch map...

To be honest, you're both wrong. :D I'm using Ubuntu7.04, and proud of it. >Donny: I used to use the ShockwaveDeath DLL on Windows a lot, for network servers. Now I don't use windows anymore. Naturally, I assumed that BZFlag would use the same type of plugin for all OS's. Apparently I was wrong. >Di...

True, but an observant player can roughly estimate the Z value of another player's location by the size of the other player's dot on the radar. The radar is only good for "mapping" the Z dimension when it is set to Enhanced mode. Even then, it's not much good for Z mapping on a complex map...

So, why can't someone just compile the plugin and upload the resulting DLL file for non-techies to use? I don't see any flaws with that.

By 'paps' im guessing you meant 'maps' :) Im confused with what you mean... there are many many maps that do take advantage of the 'Z' dimension. The only maps I can think of that dont are the non jumping servers, Hepcat for example. Is that what you meant? Or did you mean layer exactly on-top of a...

No, I didn't mean that no one else can use it. By "Copyright 2007 LeGeeko" I mean nobody can host it and say that they created it themselves. It's my way of saying "I made this, not you, and you have no right to say that you made it, etc...!". You are more than welcome to use it,...

Yes, it might, but I already had the map on my computer. :) Thanks anyway! :)

I extracted the Lightning code from the BZW file. Pretty cool stuff. Just one more question: is it possible to rotate an object on the X or Y axes, instead of the default Z axis? Thanks again! :)

BZW Map FX: Lightning/Lighting = :?:

I've been toying around with the BZW format recently, and I have 2 great map ideas. The first, Multiple Levels of CHAOS, is in Works In Progress section, currently in "first beta stage". The second is a HUGE pyramid in the center of the map, surrounded by small(er) ones, with lightning com...

Hmm... You're right, I'll have to do something about location of teles etc. I'll need at least 2 teles going up, and a better way of getting down. I like the multiple-layer thing too, otherwise I wouldn't have made it. Not many paps take advantage of the Z dimension. With 3 layers, you can have thri...

MoFo: April Fool...Anyone?

I'm just wondering of anyone downloaded the MoFo April fool's day map. I really want the spinning pyramid thing, more than the actual map itself. Did they use a plug-in, or...? Any thoughts on this?

OK, now I see the problem. It must be run with "set _tankSpeed 36" ( or greater ). Sorry for the confusion.

I did test it locally, and it is playable. Barely. You have to time the jumps perfectly, adding an element that most players lack. I will definitely add more boxes, but it was intended to be difficult to get a team flag from one base to another. Thanks for hosting.

Multiple Levels of CHAOS - almost half-done :)

Here's my first hopefully-public map: Multiple Levels of CHAOS! It's a multi-level CTF map , although what I have so far is a mere framework. Everything is hand-coded, it's more fun that way. :) I may be new to the forums, but I've made a few BZF maps in my time, although never hosted one. I need so...
