Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

Until I saw the thread I thought that Riker's is "The Best of the West vs. the Best of the Rest". Anyway, I'm glad that Riker's Cup is still being held. Though I forgot about it once again :-/

Do I need to be added to the spawn list again? If so, please add me, I've already logged in on the OL site.

A clean retro feel
:-)

It would be nice to have here information for players too, not just for newcomers. Server list, or a link to strayer's.

Re: An Appeal to Server Admins -- and the Players

I think what this post really means is that at last after years planet mofo has started to host a decent (ctf) map. Because I don't see another reason why chickenfarmer didn't post his objections earlier. UPD I was playing that new mofo map today --- how could anyone look for chat there? It was insa...

Try playing 2.0.16 bzflag. There mostly noobs, though the overall number of players is not large.

hey, what's this:

http://www.playdeb.net/software/BZFlag

?

I once installed 2.0.16 (32 bit) deb from this site, it was ok. May it be the answer for those seeking 2.4 deb?

Re: Cool little link I found

800m? I didn't realise that we dealt with real-world measurements in the map. Thought it was just arbitrary units in 3 dimensions. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Well, the only real unit in bzflag is second (time). The default gravitational acceleration in bzflag is 9.8 (length units) / s^2 t...

Re: Cool little link I found

I'm actually quite surprised the equipment is so fast. Assuming the real lag due to wire length is around 100-120, it is responsible to the almost half of my lag. The other half is contributed by various routing hardware between wires. The light is slow indeed, we can feel its speed in game!

Re: Cool little link I found

Nicely done. A column that shows the round-trip distance in light-milliseconds would give a best-case lag value, and might even be useful as a teaching tool. Huh, I've been trying to calculate internet channel length in light-milliseconds, but it' not so easy --- I don't know the length. The straig...

Re: High jitter and lag

It might be an issue of (your) Internet service provider(s). What servers do you have lag and jitter on? Were there any changes to your home network (adding routers etc)? Did you install torrents or other software that incentively use internet connection? It has nothing to do with windows or bzflag.

Re: Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit binary build (untested)

I've tested the client, but not on the fresh install. Seems fine. Since you did it in VM you could easily do i386 too? Note that Canonical suggests to use 32 bit version by default, I think many people use it on 64-bit architecture.

Ubuntu Software Center --- Rate BZFLag!!

I'd like to suggest to all Ubuntu users to go and rate BZFLag in software center in order to promote the game and gain new players. There is a small problem --- it is only 2.0.16 in ubuntu, I have provided a link to http://static.bzexcess.com/downloads/ubuntu/ in my review. I've tested that package,...

Re: Just a question for y'all...

Perhaps we'd so more activity with a new map with a bit of a twist. MW 2.3 was utterly awesome. It featured lot's of tricks to learn and master. But as a result the gap between skilled players and new ones was tremendous. So the map should be actually bad to assist the rise of activity, it should b...

It was changed to be more in tune with what jets on a tank would do. The server can change the acceleration that is added with each burst It would be more in tune with the supposed reality, if wingsJumpVelocity was added (instead of just set) not only when the tank goes down, but also when it goes ...

You can still use thief to prevent unfair capping. And if your flag is running then set hopes upon your enemy's nobleness.

Now for my feature request. (heh!) What we need is a macro to add #comment markers to a selected block of text. If it added this "#_ " , we could use the find-replace to remove them, so it would not need a removal macro. Well, after years of using gedit I've just found out that it has plu...

ubuntu, Constitution has the same problem with it. Well, that's an old bug, but for me in 2.0.16 the issue is magically solved by the geometry line in the config.
