Blender BZW Export Plugin

I wrote a plugin for Blender 2.69+ for exporting maps. It is similar to modeltool, but is a bit more convenient. Installation Download the bzw_export.py file and save it anywhere. Open up Blender, and choose File > User Preferences. Choose Addons > Install from File... and open the file you saved pr...

Ooh! I like what I see! I'll check out the map in BZFlag in a bit, but the screenshots tell me a lot! I like your materials - this map looks quite a bit more consistent than most, yet avoids being dull and boring. The only thing I might question is a simple setting - the mirror effect takes twice th...

Bucko got this absolutely right - face winding is the key here. Most games' 3D faces are only one sided, as this allows major performance enhancements. The direction of a face is determined by the order of its vertices. Your face should specify its vertices so that when you look at the front of the ...

For some reason your normals appear to be flipped on your 2x6 and 2x4 bricks on the studs... hence the weird lighting.

No, I didn't mean that no one else can use it. By "Copyright 2007 LeGeeko" I mean nobody can host it and say that they created it themselves. It's my way of saying "I made this, not you, and you have no right to say that you made it, etc...!". You are more than welcome to use it...

sigonasr2, though off-topic, might I suggest that you set your texture mode in the Options->Display menu to Linear Mipmap Linear? That is the highest setting, and most graphics cards nowadays can handle it just fine.

The only truly poorly designed part of the map are whatever causes Laser to ricochet off the teleporters in the towers. Lan: lasers dont rico off teleporters, the shot gets teleported, ricochets off the wall in the tower, and goes back through the teleporter again, possibly hitting someone(like you...

Wow, I first looked at this today, and it is great! I don't really like the theme, but that's OK considering all the features it has! Winny is working on redoing bzflag.org, maybe you should talk to him about integrating your stats into the official site? However, because the official site is on Sou...

The smart kids realize this, and so as not to be catagorized, they stay quiet, stay put, and just play. Sadly, that is a diservice to the community, and to them. Very true. Either that or they try not to act like a kid, as I tried to do. The problem with that was that I was constantly checking my p...

Hmm, I can't remember exactly how I got this to work for me. Just try ordering the texcoords different ways (keep them in numerical order kinda, just start at different numbers). I can't remember, but I think 0,0 on a texcoord is the upper left of a texture... that might be what is messing you up.

How about "tag". Oh, good idea CBG. Actually, I like that fild name. We need to figure out a way to identify it as optional, and the password, though. Any ideas? The password field, then email, seem to be the most confusing for people who don't know how it works. Put them in parenthesis? ...

The port may not be open, but then the server should still at least appear on the list. You need both -public and -publicaddr for it to function, I think. -public works like this:

Code: Select all

-public "My totally awesome server!"
... oops, I see AAA beat me to it.

When I first played BZFlag, I thought at first that I had to put an email in to play, so I made one up and hoped it would work (it did). Because this field is not used for anything, it should be changed. 'Signature' is a bit long, any other ideas for a name for the field?

Any of the flags. If the flag doesn't actually change your weapon, say, Wings (WG) for example, it will only be a normal shot. But use any flag and the weapon will be the same. :) In addition to this, one of the most interesting uses is a TH-style bullet - if you get hit by a TH world weapon, you w...

I personally don't like this whole idea of removing features for DRM purposes. As JeffM commented, if you really need to protect your map that much, don't publish it at all. As for copyright notices, just use a server message. If you are really paranoid, use a material or group name. I really don't ...

It looks like the map files were just pasted together without a second thought. It would have been better if the creator had taken the liberty to modify the map after combining, so there aren't so many stray pyramids and overlapping objects. Also, going through the center wall is going to be very ha...
