Re: Official match with teams info

The reason I originally opted to not show something like, "Current match: Team John vs Team Jane" is because mottos are not 100% reliable when players switch teams (which used to be a very common thing). The current motto that is displayed is the team they were on since the last time they joined the...

Re: VPNBlocker

It certainly is possible to modify the plug-in to allow registered users to connect via VPN, but disallow unregistered ones to connect via VPN. Or, you know, you could read the README and see that this plug-in looks for an ALLOWVPN permission. You can add this to your group file. VERIFIED: +ALLOWVP...

BZFlag Postgame

For the past few months, I've been teasing this project on Discord and now I've finally gotten around to deploying it and importing my ~8700 LeaguesUnited replays. I'd like to introduce to you, BZFlag Postgame . Postgame is a Symfony project that reads replay files and summarizes them. Taking a look...

Re: Auto -re-/set defaults on first player join

serverControl allows you to reset the server by it shutting down and letting a bash script restart it; look at the `ResetServerOnce*` settings. Without restarting the server, a simple plug-in (or PR to serverControl) could be added to just make a call to bz_resetALLBZDBVars.

VPNBlocker

With the unfortunate rise of VPN abuse , I was forced to write a plug-in to auto-kick players who were on VPNs. Since then, I've kept the plug-in private and have shared it with other server owners but it's now time to release it to the public and let others use it or improve on it. Note, this plug-...

Re: Web based map editors

Are you suggesting to create a full-blown map editor as a web app? Or are you simply talking about websites that will let you drag files and it'll run them through modeltool for example?

Re: bzflag.allejo.io servers

Welp, looks like my ISP will be migrating some networking stuff in the data center where my server is hosted. The time frame I was given was June 29th from 9am to 9pm EST... Point is: at some point on the 29th, my server will lose its internet connection temporarily. Whether or not my services will ...

Re: OAuth2 for BZFlag.org

Simply for reference or if you want example usage, the Leagues United site uses the validate_token() from checkToken.php to log in users. Same goes for Roconut (GitHub), however Roconut uses an abstracted out bundle for Symfony applications.

Urban Jungle is currently down, I will investigate as soon as I can.

Also, more scheduled maintenance possibly on June 29th. More details to follow.

BZFlag now on Flatpak and Snapcraft

If you were on Linux, traditionally you had to compile BZFlag yourself or possibly get an outdated version from your distro's package manager. That's no longer the case. If your system supports Flatpak or Snapcraft , we've got BZFlag for you! flathub/BZFlag snapcraft/BZFlag The configuration for the...

This also would provide the benefit of players less likely mistakenly clicking the wrong menu item as well. (If being able to "click" on the menu items is a future feature.) I can see how information getting lost in this thread is possible due to its original topic being sidetracked often. Yes, the...

Maintenance happened earlier than anticipated, so thank you for your patience and sorry for the individuals I had to boot off my league servers! Everything should be back up and running. Let me know if I missed or broke anything!

Re: bzflag.allejo.io servers

Been a while since I've posted any server updates. I've been busy with other bz-related projects and improvements to existing infrastructure. Scheduled downtime on May 24th at 7pm PDT - May 25th 1am PDT. The following BZFlag servers will be affected: bzflag.allejo.io allejo.leaguesunited.org allejo....

I can only see screen shot(s) from the videos. If I try to play them all I get back is "no video with supported format and mine type found" in FIrefox 66.0.2 (32-bit) on the most up to date LTS Lubuntu. Here's a shot in the dark, but if you view the homepage in Incognito or Private mode in Firefox,...

April Fools 2019: Experimental Translation Plug-in

This is a plug-in I've been secretly running on my servers for a few years now as an experiment. Since BZFlag is a global game, we shouldn't discriminate against anyone for not knowing the language of choice on a particular server. However, this is a plugin I haven't been able to dedicate much time ...

If you use an editor with syntax highlighting, you can highlight a block of text and use your editor's comment shortcut. Real haxors use keyboard shortcuts.

Dodgeball

So it looks like I never formally released my dodgeball plug-in on here. Originally conceived by Winny, this plug-in introduces the dodgeball game-mode . Each time a player is killed, they respawn in a "jail" and the only way to escape from jail is to kill an enemy tank while you're in jail. The tea...

Re: BzEdit

In our grand 20-year plan, yes having an official map editor is there. It could be somehow incorporated into the game client or use some type of game engine that already exists. Basically, in the future, we'd like to avoid having to reinvent the wheel and create things just for ourselves. Ideally, w...

Do you have any parental control apps on your computer or do you have Windows firewall turned on? Sounds like something is blocking BZFlag from connecting to the internet
