Modified Mad City

I've always loved the (newer) Mad City map, and it's great to see it changed a bit. When I first looked at it, I didn't recognize it! Then, when I got oriented, it made sense. I can see a number of new interesting areas, such as the new tower/teleporter stuff, and the major masses having internal st...

Brightness problem on BZFlag exit

When I exit BZFlag, my screen is much brighter (meaning "whiter"; washed out colors. Could be a brightness or a contrast issue, not sure) than when I started. My machine is a Dell 4400 PC w/ nVidia card (GeForce3 ti2000), running Windows 2000. This only happens with BZFlag. This happened s...

"Valley of the Dammed" overview

This is my third map now, probably the last of the largish style.
It consists of a river valley, dammed. The hill on the right is hollow, reachable by caves or teleporter.

"Valley of the Dammed" map

This'll probably be my last "big" map for a bit - the challenge of doing something good with as few blocks/pyramids as possible seems like it's worth some effort. This map is basically a river valley with a dam across it. If you fall in the water behind the dam it'll be disorienting (delib...

Optimizing maps

(Not sure this is the right forum, but it seems the closest.) Question: Does the order of objects in a map file have any impact on server performance? Background: I have code which helps me write maps: it used to place simple objects, now I can define composite objects and move them around, etc. To ...

First map: Two Fortresses Screenshots

I posted this map in the Maps forum; one unique feature
is that it has a fortress with crennelated towers (in the first image). In the opposite corner is a fortress of a different style, with a sort of Parliamentary building.

Second Map: The Borg Cube

In this, you start on the ground, and about all you can do there is go through a teleporter which will put you inside a "Borg Cube" floating above the world (along with a few starships). It's really an exercise in 3D play and thinking. When driving, you can go up or down in the cube almost...

First Map: Two Fortresses

I'm attaching my first map, which I think has some quite unique attributes; the comments at the top of the map file describe its design philosophy. I haven't been able to run a server that's visible outside of my LAN, so I've only played it locally; I'd love it if someone would put it up somewhere. ...
