Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

Oh well, radar zooms are available already, but they don't work in this sort of situation, because they discard context when set too high. Most players already have 6-7 zoom mappings, but that's another thing.

What do you have in mind?

Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

In my opinion the fluent interaction between 2D and 3D defines this game and a succesful gameplay like that shouldn't be kicked with feet. This preety much defines what BZFlag is for many players. In my oppinion, this combination of both elements makes a really unique and awesome gameplay. It's jus...

Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

Joevano, I remember at least of one player that was an amazing coder, and knew the source preety well, but has told me once that every and all contribution attempts has been shot down by the game developers, and was strongly discouraged to participate. And unfortunatly, mostly because of this, this ...

Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

That this isn't a democracy, we all know by now - no need to reenforce that statement. There is indeed a big gap between players and developers in this game. The only thing that I'm not sure about, is if you really understand the meaning of playing BZFlag at a competitive level, and how hard is to d...

Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

MDSKPR just brought up another point, many players in the leagues are already using fullscreen radar, and some could even oppose to that feature to be available simply because they have it patched already, and don't want others to have it too (specially those with small screens, who would be able to...

Re: Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

Blast, maybe I didn't expressed myself well. The only thing in focus in my post in matter of hardware is meant to monitor and screen size. Personally I didn't experienced any downgrade in matter of performance. It's all about the unavailability of a release in this version that allows players to set...

Problem playing BZFlag on small screens

Hi there, I'm here to bring up an issue that may not be very common these days, since most people today have big monitors on their setups (and sometimes even huge monitors or plasma TV's). But there are still a few people in this community/leagues that are still unable to afford good hardware, or si...

Re: Surftank (in memoriam)

Surf was awesome, I'll miss him. Those late duc fm's wont be the same without his hilarious cussing, got me laughing everytime. It was horrible to log in yesterday and see all those RIP messages, and his son's post just got me in tears. I'm honoured that he remembered the community as an important p...

Re: "Demystifying Lag" not accurate

Hey there, Someone just pointed me this thread (I'm kinda retired from the game here :) This doc was a group project that started about February, and took us a couple months of dicussion to get it done. The goal is to offer useful information for players that want to learn how to deal with lag. Alth...

imho there are different kinds of camping, and depending on the game style it can be very annoying (like base camping in a public server). tho if its a match, then base camping when possible is a good strategy and part of the game, and should just be seen as a disrespect or so maybe if the match sco...

LH has a point there, by the way the blocks are posted and the ausence of ricos very often blocking is the best option, and the moves to turn around this may determinate a match result. as any other fixed map, pillbox also has its good and bad spots, being the good mostly the center blocks that divi...

New US based ducati public server needed

hey there, a new ducati public server, preferebly hosted somewhere around US east coast, would be very welcome. the only US one left so far was bzgirl, which went offline recently. beside the public ducati server, it also left open a slot for a ducati match server, 1v1 match/pub server, 1v1 replay s...

hi there, first, i'd like to leave here my appreciation for the people that donate their times for developing this great game, and say im nothing but thankful for the great job they've done so far. with that said, i have a suggestion. as im not based in knowledge of the code but practical playing ex...

teppic: as i said, there was no such line in xorg.conf, actually theres not even a module section. i was just wondering from where it was being loaded if not from there. later, i've found out that when no modules are explicitly mentioned in xorg.conf, all modules for the driver are loaded by default...

Thanks Teppic for pointing the Mesa drivers,
I've updated it to Mesa 6.5.2 and now its fixed.

though there is no such line in my xorg.conf, and direct rendering is still active
Is there another way to avoid it?

heya, im trying to get bz working on fedora 6 with an onboard via s3 unichrome video. the generic install from fc6 repositories runs very jittery until it crashes, so i compiled from source and performance is now ok. though, the client is still crashing, a lot (about 10 seconds after spawning), and ...

fullscreen radar on 2.0.8

hi there, for some odd reason, some server admins out there are assuming that the 2.0.2 client, which was the last version to allow the use of fullscreen radar, may be a cheat client. being a fullscreen radar player for years, im very attached to this setup, so in attempt to avoid future issues w/ t...
