Here's a quick thought: if you have such a massive problem with bzflag, or the developers, please grab some source or (GASP!) write your own, free, online 3d tank battle game, and show us your superior coding / project management skills. I.E. put up or shut up. One more negative or derogatory word ...

Where is a good source for patches to BZFlag 1.10.4? Don't answer sourcforge because I can't download patches for BZFlag from there!

What is the purpose of the "experimental" quality mode? What does it mean?

I've seen it down a few times, but never for very long. For the most part, I think the're doing a good job. I don't imagine it's easy hosting over 75,000 projects. ;) I am wrong. I thought when I couldn't download any BZflag patches from SourceForge it was SourceForge fault, because the BZFlag insi...

Does Sourceforge suck?

Why is Sourceforge always down? I can't download any BZFlag patches. Why? Why? Why?

blast wrote:Did you remove all reference to doFog in the file too?
I can see that doFog is only referenced in the SceneRenderer.cxx file but there are 6 instances of its use. That is a lot to modify for a beginner like me.

Can you send me the modified SceneRenderer.cxx file here?

Thank you!

I modified that to look like: // turn on fog for teleporter blindness if close to a teleporter float teleporterProximity = 0.0f; if (!blank && LocalPlayer::getMyTank() && LocalPlayer::getMyTank()->getTeam() != ObserverTeam) teleporterProximity = LocalPlayer::getMyTank()->getTeleport...

Robot Controls

It appears that when someone enters the -solo # parameter the robots enter the game split relatively evenly among all the different colors.

How would someone change the code so that the robots all come in as rogues?

How would I hard code the doFog variable as true?

I am looking forward to seeing your BZFlagXL version. When will it be ready?

Perhaps providing more info, like say screenshots would help. You requested it so here are two screenshots of two of the help screens. You should notice that the font is almost unreadable with the blue sky as a background and even with a darker background it is still unacceptable. I find this to be...

Maybe it is a violation but there are no software police. Maybe the guy who has done the BZFlagX version has been labeled as a "cheater" by the official BZFlag developers.

the fonts didn't change, they are the same images, just difrent formats, PNGs are compressed. Save the old fonts out from gimp as no compression PNG and use them. oh and rgb hasn't been used since 1.7gx, all the 1.9.x versions and later have used png. I appeciate the information but that doesn't re...

Is there a way to make these two .png font tables look better? On my Windows version of BZFlag 1.10.4, it is impossible to read these fonts unless there is a very dark background. I have tried it on several different computers, all with different video cards, and the same problem occurs. This was no...

How do I activate the robot / solo mode on a Windows 98 system running 1.10.4? Well, each client would have to be run with the -nolist paramater. How does one do that? There must be a simple way to modify the program that does not require a player to set a parameter. Remember...I said this was for use by students. I can't trust high school students to not access other BZflag ...

I would like to run 1.10 on an internal server. How do I block the listing of other BZflag servers so that my students only see, and thus can only access, our local server? Don't tell me to change something on my network because I don't have access to my network to make changes. In other words, I ne...

N, M and the Other Keys to Life

Why can I not get the N and M keys and sometimes the Space Bar to work? They work fine in the "branch" versions of BZFlag....such as Zero and XL but never work in the "official" release of BZFlag. I have never had an "official" version of BZFlag in which the M and N key...
