If you've set your admin group up with the ALL permission, it has the hideAdmin "permission", which turns off the symbol. Try something like
in your groupdb file.

At least on Linux, bzfs does watch for SIGINT (aka Control-C) and SIGTERM (the default signal sent by the kill command). On the bzfs command line or in your .conf file will get you 3 extra jumps. This can also adjusted in-game with the "/set" server command by someone with the correct permissions.
