No, you don't have to have the .exe on the end. There's a short list of extensions Windows knows to use when searching for a program. If he had needed this, he'd be getting a "file not found" or "no such program" kind of message instead of the bzfs help output. In hiding the file...

If you've set your admin group up with the ALL permission, it has the hideAdmin "permission", which turns off the symbol. Try something like

Code: Select all

YourGroup: ALL -hideAdmin
in your groupdb file.

What do you mean by "stop running" ? bzfs doesn't really do much that you can see its text window. Normally, it will print some info on start-up and then just sit there quietly, serving the game. Adding one or two -d 's to the config makes it print some status stuff during the game, like c...

At least on Linux, bzfs does watch for SIGINT (aka Control-C) and SIGTERM (the default signal sent by the kill command). On receiving either of these, it will do a proper shutdown, asking to be de-listed, telling any clients to disconnect, etc. IIRC, closing the terminal window that you ran bzfs in ...

That's called a bug. You are supposed to be able to use it that way. It's just not the way the developers or persons running a dedicated servers do it, so that feature doesn't get much attention. It's probably broke and no one had noticed...

I also noticed this the other day. Trying to start a server from the client GUI. It lets you select from .bzw files in ~/.bzf/worlds, but it didn't seem to work unless you left it at the default of "random". I didn't dig into it to see what was up.

The server doesn't require a big processor or gigs of RAM, so "recycled" hardware will often do nicely. The limiting factor is the network speed. Of course 100BT is no problem :) A typical cable/DSL line will probably only support a handful of remote players. There have been various report...

Missing bullet texture files result in bullets being drawn as white boxes. I can duplicate the octagonal bullet appearance in the screenshot just by turning off blending in the display options. Also, while I had blending off, exploding tanks only flew into pieces without any smoke or fire.

On the bzfs command line or in your .conf file

Code: Select all

-set _wingsJumpCount 3
will get you 3 extra jumps. This can also adjusted in-game with the "/set" server command by someone with the correct permissions.
