I'm also contributing a tiny little bit on the windows side and I am using VC++ 6. The project files were fixed not very recently thanks to Patl who is the main one who maintains them. As for the code not be terrifically organized, people are always updating and modifying it to make it more intellig...

I shall return (eventually)

Just wanted to say that eventually I will come back to bzflag coding and contribute more, but I decided that for the time being that contributing to a local project would help me more (for example someone's going to pay me $500/month to help get a project off the ground -- and possibly land me a rea...

So there is no disable setting, but you can effectively disable it by putting the value to a huge value?

Idiot's admin keys + all other server command keys niftified

windows exe sf patch by pressing o, the player can enter any number (in fact all of the current) /type commands, such as lagstats, etc by using the arrow keys. In addition when the user types in the password for the server they get access to the admin commands. If a server does not respond with &qu...

I hadn't thought of making an option of wether to reveal typing or not.. that's an interesting idea. As for lag, there's 16bits worth of status information (at least in theory) that's sent in every player update message and 8 of them are currently used. Hence there's 8 bits unused (one of which I us...

updated and improved....

There was some inefficient sorting going on that I improved and in the process I got rid of the hang / pause that happens when the server list is being dragged in.

server shot limit patch

limit your shots allowed with -sl <id> <limit>
hence

"bzfs -sl GM 25" limits GM shots to 25.

Also you can limit shots with *any* flag including team flags (RE, GR, PU, BL -- I added these manually) :)

The patch is on sourceforge, I just don't have a compiler/setup on hand for other platforms. It's built into the client, not just some stand alone windows thing

list server cache for client

This preserves a list over 30 days of all the servers that were found using the "find" menu. There's an option in options which allows you to add the cache items from a certain time period to the lists that the list servers returns. In addition, the most important thing is that if any erro...

Patch fixed.. I wasn't diffing against the include dir before.

As for the center point, looking at a bunch of glstatements and trying to figure out where the center is challenging :) Perhaps blender could have told me somehow I suppose.. or the clunky gl exporting script

freaking whitespace / cvs diff / patches / die whitespace!

Any suggestions as to how I get the ten thousand little changes that are now in patch that are completely meaningless out of the patch? So I downloaded the source code, did my modifications and inbetween someone edited out a bunch of spaces and reformated a bunch of my old code (heh), hence my patch...

I actual did that, the earlier model was not *centered* in the X & Y plane around 0 0 0, it was off-center by some strange amount that I could not deduce, so when it spinned, it was actually like it was in orbit or something. If I knew exactly how it was off-center, I could have spinned it right

status [t] + Spinning 3d T -- coooooollll

I did the 3d spinning T thing for when others are typing (see the other post for the gist of this concept). I had to freaking create the T by hand (20 vertices -- not too bad), because my little python gl exporting script was too lame to make things relative to 0,0,0 so my T had been spinning off ce...

I was thinking that it might be possible to create the capacity to record and playback demos. Might require some bit of hacking on the source code, but I was thinking somewhere along the lines of every so often recording the position of all the players and what they are doing, etc.. just thinking th...

BZFlag has two options - with and without lighting. Without lighting, the colors are pre-computed to look like there's lighting. Yes, this hardcoded. Would this be an example of that bit of code? void TankSceneNode::TankRenderNode::renderLights() { static const GLfloat lights[3][6] = { { 1.0f, 1.0f...

why is it then that it appears when looking at the tank that it is shaded in some sort of way? Is this the effect of lighting or is it something simpler than that? Is this the "normals" that create this effect?

bzconehead tank /models etc..

I've been monkeying around with the model stuff.. I did the castle blender tutorial and decided to throw the model into bzflag. So is all the lighting on the tank model also in the code (vs. in like turret.c body.c etc), like it seems to be?

It's only meant as an indicator and people can take what they like from it, it doesn't mean you can't shoot the person who's typing, but perhaps you at least *know* if they are. I think it's a bit annoying myself to shoot someone and then realize they were typing. As for it not being a chatroom, wel...

status of [t] when typing

I posted a patch on sourceforge versus the latest source that gives a player a status of [t] like [p] which is done for pausing. This should be completely backwards compatible and if a person doesn't have this modification, they do not see [t] and they can not be seen to be typing. This will also fa...

So the client has to store a password for each server too and send it right after it connects, or some small period of time otherwise?

Of course it would madden a server admin if he/she had to assign a password for each and every person who entered the door
