What 5 year olds do and don't know depends completely on their family and their social/school situation. Not all 5 year olds have the same language set. Not even all 10 year olds. Yes, by age 15/16, the gap narrows. I know of several that play that are home-schooled. You left out something important...

I have to laugh. I've asked before, but never gotten an answer: There are probably 100,000 words in the English language alone, and only a tiny percentage are "swear" words. Is your command of the language so poor that those words are the only ones you can use? Yes, some of us are pretty s...

Panzer, Nice web page. :) I forgot you made some of those older maps that I've played on a few times a year or two ago. Plenty of good ideas and opinions about map making. As for your screen shots, you might want to enter your bz world as an observer, move yourself up a bit and get a screen shot fr...

well, thats not a bug, if a flag is respawned by you when you pause and you grab it when you unpause even by accident it kicks you becuase people have been known to cheat by pausing and then making a flag come to them. There's an anti-cheat fix for that already. Manu wrote it about a year ago. You ...

Well, kicked is not banned. And servers can be set to autokick. Some folks play with the server messages. Did you get autokicked by the server, or by a cop/admin?

Pimpinella decided to try it out for a while, see how well it worked out. There are a lot of flags that have been turned off on viper.pimpi.org for the simple reason that someone (Viper?) didn't like them. For instance, there is no obese flag, either.

toaster: what are your cache settings? you should not have to download the same textures each time you join that map. I get into the server in about 2 seconds (and that's mostly octree processing time) I'm using the defaults in the 2.0.2 Win build: Server list cache: 1 day Cache size: 32MB Automati...

LouMan, This map is pretty cool. I like the tunnels effect, too. One problem: takes 32 seconds on the average from "join" through download of all the textures, most about .5MB, till I get joined. Most of the time, I get "game full" after all the wait, and get dumped out. The down...

It gets kind of hard to avoid friendly fire sometimes. You're in a busy map, bullets flying everywhere, you dodge, double-tap a couple of shots, dodge, shoot again, jump to avoid a spray, and land on friendly fire. Happens all the time. Too many times a lot of people fire into the same space, and th...

My tk rate is pretty low these days, and I seldom tk on purpose. (only when someone steals my flag) I often say oops, or dang, because it's my first reaction. Half the time, the TKs are due to a situation with an ST, or a double ricochet. Oops comes out and I type it quickly, and it's cleaner than s...

I think it would be really tough to remotely control a decoy when trying to control your own tank. It would be entirely too easy to get the controls mixed up. Probably the easiest way to "decoy" would be to generate a temporary bot which fires PZ shots..... I would think that might be easi...

You really mean the chip carrier. The chip is the core. The carrier is the ceramic/plastic device surrounding the chip.

some notes: - the bz meshes are made up of polygons, not just triangles For the younger people in the crowd: A polygon has 3 or more edges, but is still a flat, two-dimensional object, like a sheet of paper. A triangle is the simplest polygon, having the minimum 3 sides. But polygons can have far m...

I have only once used TH to grab another team's flag from a teammate nearing death. The opportunity doesn't arise too often. I have lost flags to Thieving teammates on many occasions, when they just wanted the flag I had. In CTF, FFA, and RH. Once, I had SW, and just as I fired it to kill an opponen...

No, it's not really solid, because you get two levels of lag in the game. You get lag between the "superclient" and the server, and then lag between the player and the "superclient." There are plenty of references to indicate the amount of bandwidth needed for a server to run and...

The good 3D modelling tools don't force you to treat objects as meshes. They generate meshes as their output. So you don't have to think of every object you build as a mesh. For instance, you build a cylinder, then slice portions out of it, then add other objects touching it, makes some edits to the...

Generally, if you're a regular player, you can only use the silence feature (press "k") which only prevents you from receiving the messages. Everyone else on the server will still get the messages. Admins, and on some servers cops, can use the mute command to silence trolls. The mute comma...
