Thanks for the help RPG, I'll try that next time it happens. :) Phalanx, nah, never disappearing. I get on a server or two once in a while, but just not so active on the message board much right now. Kind of like Gerbil. I've seen him play once or twice, but not much activity in these forums. BTW, I...

Issue logging into Silvercat

I play silvercat servers quite a bit and was playing a 2-team CTF game today. The game ended and the map switched. I logged back into the server, but every time I right-clicked to spawn the first time, I would get a message that registration is required. I am registered, my password is valid, and I ...

I used the name of the 55-ton mech' "Dervish" from the old table-top game, "Battletech". Many gamers will know of the game according to its newest name "Mechwarrior". The name "Mechwarrior" was little more than an RPG-like spin-off of Battletech, released as an expansion book to the game back in the...

I'll give you mine, no problem. :) A couple of questions...
  • Do you want them in wav, ogg, or mp3 format?
  • Do you want them in one file, or split up?
  • Want them to start immediately or throw in a brief pause?
Thanks.

It's looking better and better, biya. :)

Yes, you don't need to have perfectly round wheels. Anything from 16-10 sides or so will look fine. The texture will make it look even better.

Second one is a huge improvement. :) Try making the height of the car lower by shortening the height of the sides (door, fenders, etc.).

I couldn't drive over them. I tried increasing the bump height thing with /se from 0.33 to thinks like 50 and you still couldn't just drive over them... Yes, I've noticed this inability too. BZFlag doesn't seem to do this properly by design -- it's quite quirky. I've tried a number of different thi...

I'm not trying to get off-topic too much, but wanted to make a quick comment on annoying lag... The worst: a CL tank is below you and jumps straight up, hitting you square on. Of course with the player's lag, you didn't see/hear the tank until it was way above you in the jump. It's so annoying becau...

Players with low lag have an atvantage. Not necessarily. It's true that a player with low lag has some advantages, but there are also disadvantages when playing against players with high lag. Trying to hit a player with high lag is difficult, and if you yourself have low lag, then everyone has a be...

That's true, the stats are from a different server. At least it tracks my hepcat stats, though I don't get much time to play compared to a year or so ago.

Wow, another old thread bumped. *sigh* May be I should become the "thread-bump police". lol btw, BZFlag's super flags are more balanced with a shot count of 1. Shield becomes valuable, MG makes more sense, and rapid fire is awesome. Also, GM dwindles, SW is still good, but limited, and L is really s...

IANAL, but as far as I know, the license of bzflag itself has absolutely nothing to do with the license for someone's maps. You are correct. However, if BZFlag were some commercially licensed game that we had to pay for (heaven forbid!), making maps for it might adhere to some weird law-lingo looph...

Re: Map making ethics

Ummmm...silly question. With the ability to "save" a map you are playing on, is it considered rude to "borrow" somebody else's map objects/techniques for one's own map? It is always helpful to use someone's map for reference in understanding specifics or if you want to leave the map whole, and may ...

The listing of 100Mb is just your LAN speed, not your Internet connection speed, so that doesn't really matter here. Otherwise, it shouldn't be too much of a big deal. Most consumer DSL lines are 768Kbps, and the best analog modem line is 53.3Kbps. Yours is just a little better than double an analog...

Yes, microsoft does suck at dirvers. Cluelessness breeds cluelessness I guess. Microsoft is not in the buisness of writing drivers for other people's hardware. They supply older versions of drivers, so in essence, drivers downloaded from a manufacturer's website / ftp site is a better option becaus...

The video drivers that Microsoft supply suck. You should download drivers directly from the card manufacturer. Microsoft often supplies the same drivers the manufacturer does, but Microsoft is a version or more behind because they "certify" the driver before they release and support it. For example...

btw, it's sinusoid, not "sinsulenoid" or "sinsulinoid" :) It = a sine curve. As for your stoplights, The timing is based upon when clients connect, not a global timing from the server (you can't sync it up so everyone sees the same color at the same time). I know you didn't ask this question -- I wa...
