Re: server help x2

My bad, I hadn't re-downloaded your config file.
I tried and just succesfully connected to your server, and global auth is working. Seems good to me!

Re: server help x2

I tried joining, (assuming I'm looking at the right server) in the provided config, the server is set to use port 5154, but the entry in the server list is for 8580. Which port is the server running on, which port is opened in your router and firewall, and which port is specified in -publicaddr? (hi...

Re: server help

Just helped solve this kind of problem for a friend. When you turn off the firewall, you're seeing it in your server list, but nobody else does. (local server scan) First, when you get your publickey, you need to use the external address, not your local IP. (armysbzflagserver.no-ip.org) Second, most...

Re: Can't turn right or reverse

Could it be that the mouse is not centered, or isn't where BZFlag thinks it is?
Disclaimer: I really have no idea how the BZFlag client uses the mouse, this is just what makes sense to me.

Re: 2 bombers:::concept test

Looks great, I really like it so far. I like the texturing, and the ground has a "Mystic valley" feel to it. I can't wait for the turrets, that will be a lot of fun. I noticed several things however. When falling into the wing pods, you often get stuck. If you have wings, you can glitch th...

Re: Using Turret plugin

Have it as a argument when you start bzfs. instead of

Code: Select all

bzfs -world turretmap.bzw
remove the line in your world file that loads the plugin, then start it like this:

Code: Select all

bzfs -loadplugin pass\to\plugin\Turret,1 -world turrenmap.bzw

Re: Quickshot league

I can HOST it, but not design it. Depends on what you're thinking. If it's a blog you want, I can do that. If you're thinking something like the GU league site, that's waaaay beyond my web designer skills. But I could still host it if given the code.

Re: Autohunt laggy players

Because neither the server nor your client knows where the tank will be X ms from now (X being the laggy tank's lag in ms). Let's exaggerate for the sake of clarity here. Say a player has 2000 ms lag (2 seconds). If the server gets information that this tank is moving forward, it COULD send informat...

Very cool. What happens if several things happen at once? Say two people kill each other almost simultaneously?

Re: Blue

I thought you could redefine colors in the config file by inputing RGB or HSV numbers, but I can't find any such thing. I'm sure you could change it by changing the source and compiling it yourself though.

Re: CTF 1v1 idea

I've done that before, and it's quite fun! The random spawn positions are interesting too. Say your opponent just killed you, and has your flag. Sometimes you respawn the the furthest corner, with no hope of preventing the capture. Other times, you respawn between him and his base, letting you fight...

Re: gravity changing flags

Some friends and I once played on a quick map I made where the normal gravity is inverted, and the wings flag pushes you down. Everyone spawns with a wings flag, and you have practically unlimited jumps. (also really fun with _shotsKeepVerticalVelocity 1) There was a physics object at around 2000 hi...

May I ask why this was done? I'm not complaining or anything. I'm enough of a programmer to wonder "why", but not enough of one to have the slightest idea "why".

Did you just take screenshots and then put the LEGO dude in? Or did you render the map in Blender?

Great page on BZFlag origins and history: http://wiki.bzflag.org/Project_History
Last year was BZFlag's 20th birthday! The oldest active and continually developed game I know of!

How does your FPS affect your jumping abilities? IS it just visual? Or does changing your FPS change how fast the game engine runs? If so, how does that help?
