Oh, that's quite awesome, I'll make sure to give it a try! Do you think you could put the video on youtube, or would you rather keep it "semi-confidential" so far?
Thanks! I'm just keeping it simple. Perhaps when the game gets some polish I'll start thinking about more exposure.

Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

Small update. I have recently redone the code for bots to be more adaptable. It is still far from finished, but the new code should be much more flexible. Here is a short video demonstrating playing vs bots. http://45.32.180.51/what/#/1/7 http://45.32.180.51/assets/2019-09-26%2017-44-57.m4v Both lin...

Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

Another long delay and little to show for it, but bear with me as I change gears :D

I have changed the site a little and added a short video.

Re: Thoughts on competitive/league play

Sorry for going off topic but, something i have been contemplating for some time is a way for players to signal their willingness to play, without needing to run the game, and avoiding manually checking strayers.. discord solves this problem partially, but not everyone is on it. Back to the topic, i...

Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

Making a website for the game is taking longer than I would have liked, so I will publish what I came up with so I can turn back to actually making that game :-p

I want to add a few videos on that site shortly, and give it a proper domain:

Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

Hey, I know it has been a while since I updated the status of this project. It is still alive and well, I work on it whenever I have the time. Sorry about the delay in replying. I'm currently adding features which are not ready to be tested yet, I hope to have the game in a good enough shape to rele...

Re: Sniping League

I think Space Invaders map by ahs would be a good candidate for addition to the league. I like the way superflags are used in this particular map, as they serve tactical purpose, and encourages team cooperation (unlike other maps which play mostly like FFA). It might be worth a try in a full match.

I normally only play the non-superflags maps, but I think this one is pretty cool.

Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

Could you post a couple of screenshots? I'm not running a binary of which I don't know the origin and since you're not converting to the newer version I''ll just wait for the project to be along a little further. I uploaded a short video here , since making a video is much simpler than taking a scr...

#1 Great that you offer Windows and Mac, but what about Unix/Linux? #2 If the source code is how one gets to work on Unix/Linux, then: a) Is it only for 64bit or also for 32bit? b) What does one need to do to create from source code? Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

I noticed there's no Godot project file in your sources. Why is that? The project file for Godot 2 is called engine.cfg. It changed in the new version but I have not updated to that yet. Currently I'm just experimenting with some ideas I would like to test, so updating to the latest version is not ...

Re: BZFlag inspired game under development

First, thank you for taking the time to try it and give such detailed feedback. 1. What are the plans for long term support? (To avoid it starting and dying a month later.) 2. Will super flags be implemented? 3. How are you solving the lag problem? 4. Will we be notified of any major releases? 5. An...

BZFlag inspired game under development

I'm working on a BZFlag-like game project. At this point, it is more or less a clone of BZFlag, with HiX map and with very similar physics. The working title for the game is "Battleground Sports". You can head to this link to download a very early dev build. Binaries are currently available for Wind...

Re: Leagues United New Format - Individual Rankings

I find myself having to defend my opinion on the subject of making caps count matter. The problem with only considering win/loss is that matches between strong teams and relatively weaker teams will be much less likely to be played, as the stronger team will have no incentive to play if points won f...

Re: Leagues United New Format - Individual Rankings

I'm with the opinion that player rating should not be affected by level of activity. Also, I'd personally prefer that the margin of score difference in a match not be a factor in the rating. Continuing to play a match where you're being soundly beaten just to try to lose fewer points than otherwise ...

Re: Leagues United New Format - Individual Rankings

I don't understand how you arrive at the conclusion that caps should be taken into account in order to have competitive game play at all . In addition your analogy with football makes little sense as in football the noumber of goals does not result in more points gained. A win always results in 3 p...

Re: Leagues United New Format - Individual Rankings

I think number of caps should be taken into account if we want a competitive game at all. and as to flag camping and PCs, that's all part of the game, and players who abuse it only hurt their own reputation. Think of it like a football match where a player from the other side is injured and your tea...

Re: Leagues United New Format - Individual Rankings

My understanding is that points are not given based on absolute win/lose ratio, but instead on the final match score and the average elo of players participating. To take this a step further, I would like to see the system estimate the expected final score and that's where the line should be drawn f...

Re: Leagues United New Format - Individual Rankings

Agree with Monster. My opinion is to treat a team like a unit and only use team score for calculating elo for both the team and the team players when they play under its name. Players on teams can play freely in mixed (dynamic) teams, but in this case, only their own elo is involved.

Re: Default settings enhancement

Video tutorials are great, but in this case I think it wouldn't help a lot, as new players should not be expected to watch a video telling them to change the default settings to make the game playable. I think multiple settings profiles to chose between would probably work well enough.

I don't know about Snap packages, but there is Appimage which I tried a few times and find pretty good. Also https://portablelinuxgames.org/ has so many games bundled using it.

What about keyboard repeat function? it is probably available on all systems.

I would also like to use this, so I need to know if it's considered a cheat.
