Re: Mapchange Poll Suggestion
Actually, it would be a copy and paste. As explained, this is already implemented in the BZFlag source code. I am sure that one of these developers or anyone who has experience with this source code would have no trouble pinpointing where this logic is. Also, I am a professional developer as a livin...

Re: Mapchange Poll Suggestion
I think you are thinking too much into this. You know how the /poll kick and /poll ban works, right? It would be the same thing, except instead of running the command to kick someone automatically, it would change the map. 1) Every registered GU player gets to vote, just like a regular /poll kick, a...

Mapchange Poll Suggestion
I've got a suggestion to add a new /poll command for GU. Although I guess most members don't have the access to do /poll, perhaps this can be added independently? Anyway, the idea is to have the command: /poll mapchange <mapName> Example: /poll mapchange Hix This will start a poll to change the map ...

Options to make BZFlag popular
I know Constitution and many more have created posts for conversations about BZFlag's loss of inactivity and potential solutions and changes, however, recently on a hix server we had a similar debate. We started talking about how BZFlag has changed from having a lot of activity to no activity. We us...

Re: New Maps?
I thought GU was defined by the map and its style. Just as Ducati is defined as a random generator, no jumping, 2 bullet rico. Openleague is unique as well.
If you can come up with a unique fun competitive map, then make a new league out of it.

Re: New Silly Cup
In my eyes, the point of the silly cup was to 1) Have fun, 2) Increase activity, 3) Allow regular players to participate in competition. In my eyes, I believe it failed because 1) It had no organization (there was no structure during the event), 2) Barely anyone showed up, 3) It was not a competitio...

Re: New Silly Cup
Ok, since the past few days I have been rather annoyed and upset about how the silly cup went. I hate to make it such a big deal, but I tried my best. It seemed as if the event was favored by most, yet during the event, it seemed as if nobody wanted it. Its fine if you don't want the tournament or t...

Re: Debate: Who gets to report
The problem of access by many players entering matches is not just the matches they enter but they then have access to alter matches already entered. It would be a huge undertaking to add a large number of players to the group. Agree with kierra, the simplest solution is to add a few more refs, not...

Re: Debate: Who gets to report
wouldn't actually need the people who played, silly, that would probably be extraneous info. Yea, well I was just thinking that if every player was able to report, requiring them to enter the people who played may help define which matches are accurate or fake, because then you can just ask other p...

Re: Debate: Who gets to report
I don't think the system is that bad right now. As consti said, autoreport is imminent. I mean right now it already reports tons of matches every day correctly. Yes, there are some bugs to it, but I mean, when will there NOT be bugs to it? I think more servers need to implement the plugin. And I am ...

Debate: Who gets to report
Ok, so instead of posting another meaningless, controversial, offensive and no structure topic such as the riker or principle thread, I have decided to make this post. I believe if we handle problems this way there will be a lot more consideration to change. So, hj, in his thread mentioned that the ...

Re: A Matter of Principle
It truly astonishes me how so many of us players could be so united, but so wrong. The truth is BZFlag is a game with an involved community. It is a multiplayer, open source, completely free, virtual fighting game for people across the world. It wouldn't be multiplayer if only one person played. It ...

Re: Riker Cup Commentators
I told Bacon in-game, just wanted to say it on here. But, just as a suggestion, you could commentate on the Silly Cup. I mean it could turn out smaller than planned, but it should be fun and good practice for you guys. And perhaps it would bring more attention...

Re: New Silly Cup
So the cup is only 1 week away. We have 25 players signed up in the Waiting List. Thus, I have made an unofficial team list. Teams were created at random but were modified a few times to try and keep things fair. Mythic and zar have helped with that. So, my goal right now is to finish things off and...

Re: Riker Cup Commentators
yea, that would be really neat, especially live. Just a suggestion, I'm not sure how good or hard it would be, but you could try and record you observing. Kind of instead of us entering BZ and observing ourselves, we watch your video, while you fly around and pinpoint players or what not as you narr...

Re: Proposal for rikers/chesval | increasing league activity
As has been said by other, Rikers/Chesval is meant for "the best of the best" it might not be the best idea to take that way. But what about introducing a tournament that is like Rikers specifically designed for a wide range of player skills. That way we wouldn't have to worry about takin...

Re: Proposal for rikers/chesval | increasing league activity
Yea, as annoying as it is and how it doesn't seem fair, I still think the best of the best should play, not the most active. We have to remember that when these cups were created, there was a lot of activity and a lot of big competition. The original idea/goal of both cups were to have a friendly co...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????
What, deleting the post that was posted by a newly registered user using a proxy in order to troll out a reaction? For the record, I deleted that post, not the GU admins. For the record, that player, whether his intent was to troll or not, had valuable information for the past 5 years. And I think ...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????
For me, spicy's post was a perfect example of taking things out of context, mixing together as a wordmaster can to achieve his own agenda. People post on a public forum their own opinion. FS, BC and even myself spoke from our perspective. It's not necessarily the collective opinion of the GU admin ...

Re: Proposal for rikers/chesval | increasing league activity
I think its a good idea. It does annoy me how a player who hasn't logged into BZ for half a year then suddenly appear 1 day before the cup to be a participant, and then only to become inactive immediately after the cup. Although, actually, the cups have done some good by bringing back a few players ...

lol. Well said spicy. ;) Voted up! :P Before we go on to talk more, I would like to say in no way do I (and I believe majority of the gu players) wish to offend any player including any admin. Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????
Over the years the GU admins have consistently refused to create detailed written rules covering every possible situation, despite repeated requests for such from a few players. I do not expect any change in that position even in light of recent events. I can only suggest that you start a new leagu...
