Re: Official match with teams info

My concern would be that the join message would be providing incorrect data, but I have not been able to confirm this yet. bz_sendTextMessagef(BZ_SERVER, joinData->playerID, "*** There is currently %s match in progress, please be respectful. ***", ((currentMatch->isOfficialMatch) ? "an official" : "...

Re: Official match with teams info

This should probably be filed as an issue within LeagueOverseer for proper tracking of said bug.
Most of what is seen done in the leagues and elsewhere is done via plug-ins for easy maintenance and updating of features.
(The server itself has no concept of an "official" or "fun" match.)

Re: VPNBlocker

It certainly is possible to modify the plug-in to allow registered users to connect via VPN, but disallow unregistered ones to connect via VPN.

Re: One of the best games of the Net?

Best is highly subject to opinion.
Perhaps not the best in mainstream, but the best for some.

For me, I do like the part of being able to write plug-ins.

Re: Auto -re-/set defaults on first player join

Server owners should already be aware of the permissions from global groups and how to configure them, especially the defaults. Three simple signs ( !, +, - ) can be used to deny, grant and omit permissions from various global groups. Additionally, poll "set" abuse need not be a concern for server o...

Re: Jump Session Linger

You should re-read the initial message. It's not about shots. It's about persisting the "ghost" of a player that left while alive so that quitting the game can't be used to avoid an imminent death. Such a thing would certainly be possible without a protocol change, but it wouldn't end up in 2.4. Yo...

Re: Jump Session Linger

This would not be possible in the current protocol. We only get the shot initial position, but are not able to get it's end position, much less getting it's position at any point in time. If we are able to get enough shot data and player positioning information, it can either be implemented within B...

Upcoming release of plug-in developing notes

I will be releasing most of my collection of plug-in development notes in the hopes that they may be of use for the general public.
Right now most are in the process of being rewritten for proper content and wording and will be released here when they are done.

Re: 101 leaderboard suggestions thread

@netochka nezvanova, I'll update the list in the coming days.
It mostly was a leaderboard in the sense of "who was leading" in 101, but will update it to include all with a score of one or above, per your suggestions.

BZStocks, are we having a return of it?

Previously, BZStocks existed as two different projects, but now has the chance to exist as three. First thought of by Tanner and implemented by TD-Linux and Theme97 in 2006. BZStocks introduced a new game built on top of BZFlag as a basis for the market itself. Fast forward 6 years and we have sigon...

Re: Auto -re-/set defaults on first player join

I agree. Although I think /poll set should just be removed or defaulted to not being allowed. In versions 2.4.12 and upwards, poll set is not enabled by default. BZFlag 2.4.12 "Silence is Golden" (2017-10-29) ----------------------------------------------- * Allow API to trigger CTF capture event -...

Re: 1v1 Flagged FFA Courtesy

It would not take much for server owners to add a quick server message: -srvmsg "In one vs one, drop the most powerful flags by default," -srvmsg "and drop the flags upon each successful kill. Or rather get server owners to load up the oneOnOneRules plug-in. Quite possibly, if that is not enough, fa...

Re: bztank gone awol?

While it was over a hear ago since Benfish stopped hosting, it was somewhat predicted, but still came as a surprise. Mostly due to the fact of BZtank being a long term and large network at the time. Seemingly during the last months when BZtank was online, player count dropped quite a bit. (It most l...

Re: Access-Control-Allow-Origin

I might be totally wrong here, but perhaps it is related to "not directly forwarding login requests" which was added some time ago.
However if it is non-login related, I certainly would like to be able to get the list from the browser more easily.

Re: Flag: Disguise

Why not simply grant the API complete control over flag effects and abilities? Instead of simply "merging" them which is another word for removal, why not grant a better API instead? If we can control multiple variables, flags which have been suggested over the years can easily be made and invented....

Everything comes in good timing and as with most plans, they must be flexible enough to allow changes or to move on to another direction if not. The reason not much has been provided is lack of sufficient data, but even so I can still provide a rough outline, although it will not be as accurate as o...

Re: Flag: Disguise

The idea is interesting and I would have implemented it myself some time ago were it not for API limitations in creating custom flags. This has mostly been resolved in the next major release, although it would not quite support what you are looking for, but this could probably be resolved by adding ...
