Re: Multiline map comments

For what's worth, I do encounter cases where I have to (temporarily) remove a section of objects, though I simply use two separate text files to achieve that. Maybe multi-line comments might make that more elegant, though there are simple workarounds now already. For most other games, this is a gen...

Re: Multiline map comments

And what is your proposed syntax for this feature? C style comments. If you use an editor with syntax highlighting , you can highlight a block of text and use your editor's comment shortcut. Real haxors use keyboard shortcuts. While it may be easy for us, I'm certain the majority of players have ne...

Multiline map comments

While we do have shell style single line comments, multi-line comments would be very useful for map makers.
It would make several things much easier, especially when working with large scale maps and the temporary commenting out of objects is needed.

Re: Can't cycle through player names

This could be requested as an enhancement.
Or for those who are skilled enough, it can be done as a client modification.

When I have the time, I'll likely implement this.

Re: ***IF YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM A SERVER READ THIS FIRST****

To clarify things and clear up any confusion players may have. Since BZFlag 2.4.14 "Hello Motto" (2018-05-02) and above, the person who one was banned by, is no longer displayed within the ban message. (Only servers from 2.4.12 and before will display the username of the person who provided the ban....

Automatic Respawns

Here's a small and simple modification which allows you to respawn automatically. Head over to 'LocalPlayer.cxx' and find this section of code: setStatus(PlayerState::DeadStatus); location = Dead; if (isAutoPilot()) { CMDMGR.run("restart"); } } Change it to the code below: setStatus(PlayerState::Dea...

Re: New Map idea

Everyone spawns at own castle. Everyone is rogue. Map/castles expands as player list grows. Game is called "King of the Hill". Idea is to move up in levels(not games but elevations)) until you capture the "win" flag. Need some teleports. The way you move up is based on teleports and elevators. I li...

Re: meshbox / box & meshbox / teleport links

- meshbox/box : when the ground/stair is made of mixed tiles, box next to meshbox, tank can t drive from one to the other This is a known issue and is caused by the inconsistency of the handling of '1.0' and '2.0' objects. MessageInZone

Hello everyone. I have come to propose a minor change within the 'Zone' object. Zones could use such a parameter and allow easy testing and various features to be added to maps without much difficulty. A small list of what this could provide for players: Players gain insights to maze based maps.("Hi...

Re: Missing everyone

Welcome back Beth. Glad to see you back. I'm sorry to say the majority of players within this game have moved on or have become inactive. New players join in occasionally, but do not remain for long, if they remain at all. BZFlag has been in a slow decline over the years, but activity has picked up ...

Re: zone flag where flag dont go back

The following should solve the issue: '-set _maxFlagGrabs 0'
(Simply set the above within the command line, map file or configuration file.)
It may also be done within game as the following slash command without the quotes: '/set _maxFlagGrabs 0'

Zehra, did you forget to tell us what new effect you are going to create to replace this one you want to remove? The OO effect is not the same as a drivethrough object, so it’s important to have an effect to distinguish one from the other. Improvements (the actual work, not just ideas) are always w...

Re: bzflag graphics improvements?

If you wish to improve the appearance of the game slightly on your end, there is a couple things which can be done. Such as replacing the default texturing on your end or if you are good with code, making a few client changes. A couple players, such as myself, have replaced the default texturing and...

Eighth dimension cleanup/removal

While originally the 'eighth dimension' scene added to the games appearance and design, but these days it takes away from it. The small randomly placed triangles in buildings and structures end up making the game look quite dated and perhaps even incomplete. In my opinion, the removal of them would ...

Meaning no offense, but bzflag looks almost the same as 20 years ago. Computer graphics have improved a *lot* in the last 20 years, so I wonder if it would be possible to improve bzflag accordingly? Improvements could certainly be made, but it is another question if someone will do them. Although t...

Conceptual topic. The idea or goal behind a co-op HTF plugin would be to allow some sort of teamwork or even matches between two teams (HTF in leagues, *wink-wink*), with the game mode being HTF. This sort of has been already suggested, see the 2 way Htf thread. As of right now, the concept behind ...

Currently there is no way to 'download' the actual file from BZFlag.
