Re: Incoming :: Space Invaders

I believe that 'AutoPilot' or 'solo' bots will not play well in this map.

NoLossOnSW

NoLossOnSW

Players do not lose points on deaths from 'ShockWave' shot type.
(Technically they do have a loss, but it is reduced by 1, so no loss appears.)

Re: Incoming :: Space Invaders

Another masterpiece by ahs3. Takes a bit of a while to get a feel for it, but afterwards plays really well. Excellent use of super bullet as well, didn't quite expect it to be used this cleverly. The tactics and strategy are also interesting. Guided Missiles prevent easy SW run attempts. Laser easil...

Re: Server List question - different version of bzflag

If not with-in BZFlag, on the a server list site - like on http://bzstats.strayer.de/servers/stats/?lang=en To tell people what other servers exist and where the users are. This is pretty vague and sort of conflicts of what you said before. I may be mistaken with this, but it sort of now sounds lik...

Re: Server List question - different version of bzflag

I'm not 100% sure if I understand your question, but probably the answer to it, is due to the way BZFlag is designed. There is basically only two release types: Major and Minor. Major is when the protocol is changed to prevent previous clients and servers from connecting with the latest ones. This i...

Re: I got bored

Bringing some life back to this thread; I would be very interested in bringing this idea to a map that I'm making; would it be possible to proceed with this one concretely? From what I recall, this feature would be available in a future protocol break and I believe it was for 2.6.x, if I am not mis...

Compiling BZFlag on Windows Guide

Hello everyone. I have decided to release my guide for compiling BZFlag on Windows. Step 1: Downloading the proper files. First open and use your favorite web browser. Head over to github.com/BZFlag-Dev/bzflag and download the current protocol version. (At the time of this writing, it is 2.4.x) Down...

Reduction of slash commands in official plug-ins

One thing, I have noticed which could perhaps be improved on a few plug-ins is the reduction of slash commands. For example, the following code within the KoTH plug-in: if ( command == "kothautotimeon") { koth.autoTimeOn = true; autoTime(); bz_sendTextMessagef (BZ_SERVER, BZ_ALLUSERS, "King of the H...

REF = https://wiki.bzflag.org/BZAuthd That is great wonderful of the future what you are planning to do. :) Mentioned within the List Server questions thread, it was mentioned that BZAuthd had not been updated, and if I'm not mistaken, the code itself has not been touched since 2009. (Meaning that ...

Re: bz_ePlayerDieEvent kill tracking issue

Is this specifically for a plug-in you're building? If so, what are you doing? Yes, it is part of a plug-in I'm working on. The code which applies to the subject: bz_PlayerDieEventData_V2 *deathData = (bz_PlayerDieEventData_V2*)eventData; if ((deathData->killerID) != (deathData->playerID)) { // Pre...

Re: bz_ePlayerDieEvent kill tracking issue

I'm trying to track both actual kills made by players and one attributed to players. As in the case of PlayHistoryTracker, it works well tracking actual kills, but server shots made on the behalf of players do not end up being attributed to them. Examples of this include Useless Mines, Grenade, and ...

bz_ePlayerDieEvent kill tracking issue

Currently we can track kills made by players rather easily with this event and thus PlayHistoryTracker and various other plug-ins are able to take advantage of this feature, however, this does not seem to take into account 'non-player' kills which are assigned to players. Is there a way to possibly ...

Re: Progressive Flag Mode

That's actually pretty nifty. Hopefully the zone quantity doesn't affect the performance that much. Thanks for the insight and feedback, it helps with improving and developing better plug-ins. According to the most recent tests of the latest version, there does not seem to be any performance issues...

Re: Default Flag Server Variables Rework

Then again, the main argument of reworking the values is based on having better default starting options. Perhaps what may work better is to simply have a few sample configuration files or to have a list of the variables, along with a reference of settings which tend to work well and are balanced. (...

It would be really helpful if more players would provide feedback on the subject.
The implementations and the concepts could be easily worked out and refined, hopefully leading to the best possible outcome.

Re: Default Flag Server Variables Rework

I agree that a rework would be great. Currently MG is more of a 'bad' flag with default settings. (Wide-angle, bouncy, or no-jump end up being a far better flag than MG at default.) Steamroller tends to vary a bit with effectiveness in range, but overall, SR is not as useful or effective as it could...

Re: Public Team Score Contribution Value

It seems reasonable to allow an “objective score” to go negative for gameplay abuse/sabotage, if it otherwise serves as a positive reinforcement even for new players who only contributed a little. Currently, having a negative score all the time can be discouraging to new players, in my view. I'd ag...

Autopilot '[auto]' Display Issue

It seems to appear, that if one joins a server when someone is running the client with autopilot, the '[auto]' part, does not display.
This continues until the client toggles autopilot again and then everything is normal and the '[auto]' status works as normal.
