Re: pass flag to middle

If I'm not mistaken, the '-fb' option will likely be needed as well.
Simply pass it as an option within BZFS or include it within the 'options' section of your map.

Code: Select all

Re: Mockup of new menu

I agree with the points Misadventure brings up. Additionally, I kind of would like to be able to adjust the brightness and contrast of the menu items itself, if possible. I would be able to go for a more BattleZone like theme in terms of contrast, although I'm not sure if any others may possibly be ...

Re: Mockup of new menu

I'm against being able to hide certain menus in the game. As macsforme mentioned, there isn't an excess of options and we're looking to standardize the client and gameplay for everyone. Do you often see software that hides the "File" menu because users know Ctrl+N will create a new file or Ctrl+S f...

Re: BZFlag now on Flatpak and Snapcraft

Excellent work. It will make it much easier for people on Linux to have up to date versions of the game.
Hopefully we'll see an increase in players from this.

Re: Mockup of new menu

The ability to toggle the "league play", "training" and "help" selections would be useful. This way options which are not relevant to players would not clutter up the screen. What? All of those menu items are relevant to all players. Even those who don't play competitively may be interested in watc...

Re: serverControl plugin with ResetServerAlwaysFile

While I am not certain of the issue with the 'serverControl' plug-in, the following may be of some use: If the goal is simply to "shutdown" the server after a game and players leave, the below may be passed as a command line option when starting BZFS. -g The above simply causes the server to provide...

Re: 2 maps in progress.

A couple of things I noticed concerning Dark Forest, I assume most players know how to hunt, but I was wrong. To Hunt you press '7' and select and choose player to hunt with right and left mouse button. In Dark Forest its essential to hunt all players! From experience, I've made similar mistakes an...

Maybe simply eliminate the jump?
(Other games do not have it, but instead switch the viewing angle and offer a kill-cam, perhaps the same could be done here as well.)

Re: Hello! I'm New to BZBB

While becoming good at dodging will help you become a better player, do not expect that becoming good at league maps will translate into being good at free for all or super flag based maps, as the tactics and techniques tend to vary and sometimes greatly. Flag and base-camping would not apply to FFA...

Client-side API

In 2.99 (which was the planned 3.0), there was the option of client side scripting. The idea was really good and it offered a lot of potential in terms of improving the game itself. In term, I propose a similar idea, but different implementation and concept of it. Currently the interface does not pr...

Within the Map Editors forum, there is a link to a few Windows builds of BZWorkbench.
Otherwise you will likely need to compile it for your specific platform.
(Unless someone provides a compiled version for the required platform.)

"Forgotten Seas"
"Algae Minefields"
"Coastal Wreckage"

I'm not sure exactly where this map will head, although these are the first few impressions I get from the picture.
Looking forward to the completed result.

Otherwise starting a revival for BZWGen would not have made much sense.

Logout occurs automatically

Not sure if it is, but it seems there is a feature for for automatically logging people out after a set time period.
However, I've noticed that this has occurred sometimes even less than 5 minutes after I login.
Is this intentional or a bug?

Re: Mockup of new menu

There probably would be a setting to provide a classic appearance.
Not sure if this is planned, but would be nice if we would be able to customize the menu as well.
Border free looks good and seems to keep with the classic style of BZ.

Speed run in Beginner mode of Jumping Skills with no deaths.
I managed to get close to a 10 minute run, but didn't make it by around 2 minutes.
However, I believe I will be able to do so in upcoming runs.
