"Two Tanks" Pyramids-to-Jumpers Shots Chart
Hey, I am moving soon, and when organizing my papers, I found my notes on Two Tanks jump shot angles. They're old and bad and paper, so I wanted to toss them—but not before making a replacement! So, I made a thing (note: links to high-res version): https://i.postimg.cc/x8x1MCRL/diagram.png There's a...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
@tainn, That's extremely parochial IMO. And hostile, TBH. Anyway, returning on topic, how about a `_terminalVelocity`, or the like, server setting that defines maximum downward speed? It's backward-compatible, makes sense for other contexts, and perhaps is not too difficult to create. Or perhaps `_t...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
I did not know about those parameters of WG—very interesting. I just tried them out. Slide doesn't work how I'd expect, but the real show-stopper with altering WG with these parameters is again descent rate. Falling gliders should follow linear paths, not parabolic like WG. And even more, descent ra...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
Hmmm, that's disappointing. Perhaps it would be simpler to alter ordinary WG? That would prevent WG and gliders being used together, but would only require adjusting descent rate. Perhaps that's easier? Also, may I suggest maybe thinking about adjusting the future API so that plugins like this can b...

Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
Hi, I am making a new plugin called "Gliders", with a new flag, "GL". Gliders function like WG but with two differences: first, GL cannot jump while already flying. Second, gravity's keyed from horizontal speed: moving faster means slower descent, and vice-versa. I do not underst...

Re: THE VOID
Not really the place . . . but @alfa1: playing physical sports is very different because you get exercise—and attendant enjoyment, physiologically. Indeed, when you do not have that (like, you only watch), then it gets dull very fast. But it's not solely about "enjoyment" either; it's abou...

Re: Agatha's Thoughts on High-Level Gameplay
@Zehra, @etigah, yes, exactly. I am frustrated by the lack of evident depth, since BZ is actually a fundamentally deep game. Perhaps I should steal Zehra's analogy—imagine that we were all playing chess, but everyone has decided to move everything like checkers pieces. I am over here like, why're yo...

Re: Agatha's Thoughts on High-Level Gameplay
@kierra, That's the thing, though. (And while we are on the tactics board, so it fits), I do not actually see myself to be a particularly competitive player. I scarcely even consider myself a gamer at all. I do not have reflexes, let alone focus or talent. Whereas, lots of players on BZ do get compe...

Agatha's Thoughts on High-Level Gameplay
Somewhat inspired by chickenfarmer's tips , I thought I would lay down a list of my own. Like CF's list, mine will also end up being mostly reflections on my own strengths and weaknesses—which happens to be actionable for improving tactics and strategy, if you read carefully. However, since CF has a...

Spawnkill Revenge
Description : Spawnkills are gamebreaking in several ways. This plugin discourages them by auto-killing the perpetrators of spawnkills. Best-used on CTF maps with separated spawn zones. See README for much more discussion. Version : Tested with 2.4.18. Probably requires 2.4.3+. All development is o...

Re: How Does a Server Allocate Flags Without "zoneflag"?
I think what alfa1 is saying is that forum policy explicitly states that posted maps become public domain. This is a perfectly fine policy; copyright in this case is considered to be voluntarily ceded by the copyright holder, in countries where public domain legally exists. Since Two Tanks was poste...

Yes, more than 5 real players, or more than 10 bots, in the test, without dying.

playHistoryTracker Seems to be Broken
Hi, I'm trying to get the "playHistoryTracker" plugin to work. I load several plugins on startup, and the server log shows: Plugin: Play History Tracker loaded from /usr/lib/bzflag-server/playHistoryTracker.so Play History Tracker plugin loaded "/listplugins" corroborates. Howeve...

Re: How Does a Server Allocate Flags Without "zoneflag"?
I guess my question was more how the official Two Tanks server could know which flags go where if the zones don't list them. Flag types are not equally distributed between zones. But, if "/saveworld" doesn't actually use the server's ".bzw", then that would explain this. (Noted. ...

How Does a Server Allocate Flags Without "zoneflag"?
Hi, For example, if you "/saveworld" on Two Tanks, the resulting ".bzw" file has empty zones (i.e., lacking "name" and "zoneflag"): zone position 466.5 -735 0 size 50 50 0 rotation -60 end By examining a version of Two Tanks on the forums (a previous version, ...
