Re: BZFlag now on Flatpak and Snapcraft

If perhaps anyone is using Plasma Fedora Linux like me, I would, after installing it this way and running it, wholeheartedly recommend getting BZFlag via Flatpak before any other method. I was partly forced into it due to the SDL1 vs SDL2 issues, but have no regrets. A (short) step-by-step guide tow...

Re: Official match with teams info

You can easily check that yourself as it is, though. The motto field is automatically filled with the team name. If there is an official match in progress with the red team all having the same team name in their motto while the green team having mixed, you know it is an official match of that team v...

Jump Session Linger

Just as a person cannot pause while in air, it might be nice to have forced extended sessions while players are in the air; for a few seconds, around 5 or so. These sessions could only persist on the server's side, and not actually on the side of the client that closed the session. The idea arises d...

Re: HTF Event on Obstacle Course

This was a relatively short event. I would like to thank everyone who came, and especially those who actually stuck around and played. Due to the nature of the current bz playerbase, I kind of expected that there wouldn't be much interest for this sort of event, but I still wanted to see it though. ...

Re: Auto -re-/set defaults on first player join

I believe someone has actually written a script that did just that; reset all server variables once no players were on the map. It was either that or restarting the entire server with the default values. Uncertain.

1v1 Flagged FFA Courtesy

There currently exist unwritten 1 versus 1 rules or guidelines on flagged free-for-all (FFA) maps. Since they are rather known among active veterans but seemingly not among newer players, this post serves as a bit of an introduction to them. There are primarily two types of rules of general courtesy...

Around November 2018, but you should ask Benfish for details. As far as I know it was a move that was contemplated for quite a while.

Per-page listings are meaningless, just include the last table on that page.

I like the idea, but it seems like that could have been made a lot more straightforward and clear, as well as the fact that some entries in those tables are corrupt, an example being the last table

Re: voteRepeatTime mechanism

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying, Misadventure. Ideally, players shouldn't even be bothered with persistent abusers. I don't think the poll ban feature was even designed to counter them, but the ones who perform an abuse once and are then removed for good. The persistent ones who by-pass the b...

Re: voteRepeatTime mechanism

If someone has enough credibility and is trusted enough to by-pass the voting limitations, as well as is prepared to actively moderate a server, I believe it is in such case more elegant to simply grant them cop permissions, should that server not already have enough active cops and admins. I do, ho...

Flag: Disguise

Just an idea of a flag that has been on my mind for a long time and might be interesting to see, albeit possibly impossible to implement. Named Disguise , the flag would function similarly to Masquerade, except that the tank would be visible in its real colors through the screen, while the radar wou...

Same as The Noah above, Deathmatch Sniping CTF; seems to be quite a fast-paced map, kills can be stockpiled quickly.

Re: pass flag to middle

It is not a meshbox that is causing you trouble, but a regular box. Specifically, this box here: # Line box position -7 -2 0 size 16 16 15 rotation 12.467799419733344 color 0.1 0.1 0.1 1 end The issue here is that you are trying to add a color attribute to a normal box. Doing that breaks essentially...

Re: Mockup of new menu

Can we work a bit with the images provided and try different things? I'm asking because I like the direction, but I don't like the current result. How about the same mock-up without the huge icons on the side, just text?

Also since there was no reply, I hope legacy will be an option.

Re: Mockup of new menu

Should the new menu mock-up take place, are there any plans on allowing the 'legacy' menu to be an option under options/settings, assuming there wouldn't be any added functionality in the new menu, simply different organization with possible shortcuts?

Re: BZFlag now on Flatpak and Snapcraft

Ah yes, the holy trinity of Flatpak, Snapcraft, and AppImage.

Thank you for this change; I have personally been using the latest version that Fedora had offered in the official repository, which was a bit outdated. Will likely utilize Flatpak myself from here on!

Re: Obstacle Course :: Collaborative Project

There are no set deadlines.

Though I would like to state as a word of encouragement, unlike whole map creation, an obstacle can be more simple and created much faster. There is the barrier of creativity to pass, but besides that, there's only so much space you can utilize and fill out with objects.
