I would guess it has (also) pulled examples from the forums, it's a much greater sample size.

This was the response of GPT-4 on my simple prompt.

Just a slight update that v3.0 of the package has been released. The package has also been renamed from bzwrap to bzw for simplicity. Among other things, the changes include the following since the last version (2.7): Lazy IO support only with a required final dump Addition of indent and output util...

Re: Tank flying away ...

As per in-map testing with @mudfreak and @GEP, it seems the issue is caused by the fpsLimit. Setting it to 500 or lower helped, it was the initial value of 600 that was troublesome. Some discussion on a similar issue from 2017 for reference.

Re: Checking in

To expand on the Discord server segment, it has indeed started off as a Leagues United server, but is now considered a general hub for anything and everything BZ-related, minus the core dev that's still on the IRC. Perhaps we ought to create a bridge between the two at one point. Albeit I'm unsure i...

Re: hunt-all key ?

Isn't hunt-all a bit overkill for that purpose? You could click/press your bind for aim whenever there is a tank in range that you want to identify. Otherwise you're getting a bunch of info on your screen that you might not necessarily need. Granted, that's an extra click/press...

Great initiative! Thank you for your willingness to create a meaningful entry platform to the game, Moroni, ahs3, and other willing contributors. Are you certain the player didn't disconnect and connect again either during or after the poll ban? The logs should show that.

Mind sharing the exact command that was issued to perform a poll ban?

Are you saying that he was removed after a poll ban and then rejoined, or that the poll ban had no effect and his connection remained intact?

Scoreboard Sort option: KPM (kills per minute)

Currently, there are a few Scoreboard Sort options, accessible from the in-game GUI Settings tab. The default is [Score] , which favors players who have been playing a longer session and have managed to grab a mass of points that is usually not quickly obtainable. This can be slightly discouraging t...

Unfortunately for a few years, I cant play in ffa without accusation of cheating and other remarks of doubts about my game. Every single time. Re: Campy Players, Not Maps (Case Study: "Two Tanks")

Camping on Laser Tanks isn't even that bad, you can always drop to the ground and it's level battle from there. It gets pretty bad, however, when players break the unwritten etiquette and use Stealth (ST) or Wings (WG) in 1v1 situations, essentially regardless of the map, resulting in one-sided slau...

Re: Why GN Is The Worst Flag

My personal take, very few non-vanilla flags are actually decent, if any. I wouldn't say the problem is in the possibility of a counter, however. There is a clear hierarchy of dominance at vanilla flags, which is slightly altered depending on the map, but they still form a pretty elementary type of ...

Re: HOWTO compile bzflag from github source on XUbuntu 22.04

Images on Docker Hub are there to either be used as end products, or base images for your own images. The "python" image you mention here is not just python—it's python packaged in a minimal OS, resulting in an opinionated, small image that offers python out of the box. Yes, containers are...

Re: HOWTO compile bzflag from github source on XUbuntu 22.04

I'm not sure how you managed to bring Docker into the story. Perhaps you're misunderstanding different containers? Docker is generally used for services, while Snap is for apps. There is no Docker in the story of running the BZFlag client. It could be in the domain of BZFS, should one decide to run ...

To add:

LaserMania does not only use primitive shapes, due to tilted boxes; or our understanding of primitive shapes differs. I think Spiralzone was first run on secretplace by Nidhoggr, and that it was made by wiz.

Re: v2.4.22-2 hangs at Start Screen

SDL2 is used, not SDL. Fedora's binary package should include SDL2 since a few versions ago, not SDL anymore. The latter has quite a few bugs, which oftentimes make the game unplayable.

Re: v2.4.22-2 hangs at Start Screen

I can reproduce the issue on KDE Fedora 35 (package: bzflag-2.4.22-2.fc35.x86_64 ). The issue seems to persist only when running the game obtained from Fedora's official repository (version 2.4.22-2.fc35). Flatpak (version 2.4.22) does not appear to have these issues. I would recommend running the g...

The "old way" seems more modern than the way some of us build maps now from time to time, which is entirely by hand in the bzw file, keeping it all in your head and checking it out as obs while building and running on localhost.

Re: Server List Communication Issues - September 30, 2021

On Fedora, you can issue the following command to see whether you trust ISRG Root X1:

Code: Select all

trust list | grep -C 2 -i isrg
There shouldn't be any issues on the latest versions.
