Re: No sound Ubuntu11 64-bit bzflag 2.4 install
Well, I finally got the SDL to hook-in on my ./configure using the "shotgun" method of installing most all program libraries which seemed remotely related -- about 28 programs total including dependencies. Which one actually fixed it, I don't know. Now, I will hop over to my fedora13 syste...

Re: BzFlag is dying
Yes, there appears to be considerably fewer players here lately. As blast pointed out, it must be the new version being needed for what used to be the more popular servers. For Windows systems, get the upgrade is pretty simple. But for linux, upgrading can be a bit more challenging until the new rel...

Re: No sound Ubuntu11 64-bit bzflag 2.4 install
I removed libsdl1.2debian-all as suggested, no help. Blast, your statement seems to indicate my problem might be run-time related instead of a problem with the build? btw, where does the .bzf/config.cfg file live? I couldn't find it. Thanks anomaly for the jeffsplace reference. An item of note here ...

yes, the sdl-config is a valid command.
I will try the rebuild after removing libsdl1.2debian-all.

Re: No sound Ubuntu11 64-bit bzflag 2.4 install
I have added those additional libraries and now match those recommended by anomaly. completed a new ./configure and make/make install. Re: No sound Ubuntu11 64-bit bzflag 2.4 install
Yeah, about that config.log file upload. I must be an idiot or something. I tried attaching the file using the "Upload attachment" tab under the full editor here in the forum. No matter what file name I try to use, it won't allow me to attached the file. I get an "The extension is not...

Re: No sound Ubuntu11 64-bit bzflag 2.4 install
Thanks for the feedback. And, per the README.Linux file, I do have the following libraries installed: Debian & Ubuntu: libgl1-mesa-dev libglu1-mesa-dev libsdl1.2-dev libcurl3-dev libsdl-sound1.2-dev (may have to add this yourself as well) Furthermore, I also have the libsdl1.2debian-all packages...

Re: Observer going [nr] after several minutes
JeffM, Thanks for the tip. And, I suspect you are correct that it is something related to my internet router. When I start up a bzflag server on my local network and connect directly to it on my LAN instead of connecting to it via the bzflag server list by way of my router, my observer session doesn...

Observer going [nr] after several minutes
When in observer mode, after several minutes, all other players on the server show as being [nr] even though in real-time, play is continuing as normal. Is this a problem with my client? Are there any settings which might control this?

Re: BZFlag client hangs or freezes
Blast,
Thanks for the suggestion. The trench_warfare.bzw map does have some exposed areas in the map at 0 elevation -- namely the trench zones. But, I have gone ahead and disabled the -sa option to see if it helps the situation.

BZFlag client hangs or freezes
Are there certain world file and/or bzfs.conf file settings which can cause random player (client) hangs or freezes? In particular, the "trenchwars" map I am hosting seems to cause random players' games to freeze-up. I have also seen the event first-hand with the client running on Windows ...

Re: Need help configuring SELinux security policy
So, this is an older posts that I am reviving to see if anyone has created an SELinux policy type for bzfs on Fedora 12 running in "enforcing" and "targeted" mode? As an alternative, maybe one of the existing SELinux types which are part of the standard FC12 build are know to wor...

Boxy-wars is Back -- Yahoo~~~
Truely, new players (< 12 months) don't know the history and significance of Boxywars. It needs to be required reading (lol). Welcome back Boxy!!!
