Nice map! I had considered doing a WWII based map before, but this takes the cake. I am considering hosting it on my server (lsacc.net, will likely be bzflag.lsacc.net), are there any plugins or set command that you recommend for 'best use' of the map?

lsacc.net - new server needs a map

I am here today to offer a new server, located at lsacc.net. This is the LaSalle Academy Computer Club server, which is located in Providence, Rhode Island (USA East Coast.) We have a T3 connection, and the server itself is a dual-Xeon box (8 cores total, 8 gb of ram), although it is running other p...

What happened to the FPS game?

A while ago there was plans underway to make a FPS game, like BZFlag. It had different factions. There were people travelling through stargates that appeared around Earth. I forgot what it was called.

It's a fiber optic line. Very good connection, also very reliable because there's no noise on the line. Of course, my motherboard just blew up and no one around here has a spare, so I'll have to get one of eBay, which will take at least several days for shipping. I guess it's more time to work on my...

Well, I've got 250 KiloByte per second upload, so that should do it.

Here's an example .conf and map, made by CannonBallGuy. No zip.

login to the server as admin, then hit 'n', then type this:

/shutdown <enter>

That will stop bzfs. If that doesn't work, go into activity monitor, and kill the bzfs process, it's not recommended, but it'll do the job if you don't have admin rights.

Most broadband modems have static IP's though. You can change the MAC address on most routers, and it does carry through to the WAN. It's often used because the ISP would register an IP to a MAC. So you could evade a MAC ban if you tried hard enough.

Optomization is when the compiler will try and consolidate the assembler code before compiling it. It usually makes it faster, but you risk getting a bug in the binary.

But still, if they're on a modem, then how are they going to play BZFlag. The MAC address issue is a problem, but it's nothing to the problem of the whole '5KBps' download speed' problem.
