The forums and the game client have different username requirements.
Unregistered guest players are subject only to the username requirements of the BZFlag software. Registered players are subject to the username requirements of both the BZFlag software and the phpBB configuration of the BZFlag forums. For example, I usually play as Tangerine Boogie Armada, which is ...

Re: Why are modded clients able to stay connected to a server after being successfully poll banned?
I sent the message asking people to type /vote yes not noticing that the poll had already been successful. I scrolled up in the chat shortly afterward and then saw it.

Re: Why are modded clients able to stay connected to a server after being successfully poll banned?
For the purpose of people looking at logs, I suppose I should also note that I usually play as The Tangerine Boogie Armada (unregistered). I like the silliness of that name, but the forum software doesn't let me register it, because it's too many characters. I switched over to this account to initia...

Re: Why are modded clients able to stay connected to a server after being successfully poll banned?
ERGOM and I I never saw them leave, but we're not the server admins, so I don't think we have log files. This was on Island Hopping map on The Noah's server.
After my successful poll ban, ERGOM did a poll kick that was also successful, but that didn't remove the player either.
Code: Select all

Re: Why are modded clients able to stay connected to a server after being successfully poll banned?
Are you saying that he was removed after a poll ban and then rejoined, or that the poll ban had no effect and his connection remained intact? I'm saying he never left. Not during the poll or after the ban. The ban had no effect, yet the server said the poll was successful and I had correctly spelle...

Why are modded clients able to stay connected to a server after being successfully poll banned?
Recently, I was playing on The Noah's Island Hopping map and there was an unregistered player with the name "momsboy" who was TKing, stealing flags from teammates, and kept switching teams to make it 3 vs 1 with him in the majority. Once we got enough players, I initiated a poll ban. The s...

Re: BZFlag 2.4.4 Release Candidate 1
[*] CIDR ban support (Uses the format x.x.x.x/y, which lets you ban specific blocks of IP addresses, which can assist with blocking large amounts of addresses with a single ban, or can allow more specific ban ranges than were previously possible) This part made me wonder: how is IPv6 support in BZF...

Re: SourceForge is now bundling adware without dev permissio
Also, Sourceforge is not wrapping our installers with their crapware bundle at this point. That may be true for now, but there's nothing stopping them. Also, there are people who refuse to download any software from SourceForge whatsoever— and I think that's a good idea. I've seen several comments ...

Re: SourceForge is now bundling adware without dev permissio
Okay, I did. Blast007 told me he's aware of the situation and plans to have BZFlag stop using SourceForge ASAP. They're talking about using GitHub releases or just hosting it themselves.

Re: SourceForge is now bundling adware without dev permissio
Can you put the current release on GitHub and then link to that on your Bzflag.org download page, instead of linking to SourceForge?

SourceForge is now bundling adware without dev permission
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/05/sourceforge-grabs-gimp-for-windows-account-wraps-installer-in-bundle-pushing-adware/ The BZFlag project uses SourceForge to host its binaries and source code. Re: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks Crash
I get weird colors too, but only very briefly. Colors are weird for a split second and then go back to normal. That happens on launch and for each notch wen I change the brightness in display settings. When I adjust the brightness by using + or - while connected to a server (daytime light vs night t...

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks Crash
I launched it and it did not crash on launch like the official binary does. I then told it to quit and OS X didn't give me any "BZFlag unexpectedly quit" error. I then I relaunched and did the same thing, and again there were no crashes. No crashes at all, but I didn't do anything with thi...

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks Crash
I chatted with Constitution on IRC a bit, and he wanted to know about what hardware I had. GPU in particular. Maybe if we post about our hardware we can find a common pattern. Number of GPUs: 1 Brand: Nvidia Model: 9400M VRAM: 256 MB (integrated) Other specs: 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 15" mid-2009 M...

Hey Constitution. I see that we're both online here right now and I had an idea. If you want, I can let you connect to my computer's screen via TeamViewer so that you can see happen in real time. If another time would work better, let me know and we can schedule it. Send me a PM.

Re: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks Crash
Here is the latest build. If you are having problems with crashes on Mavericks, please give this a shot. The same instructions apply regarding the unidentified developer warning. http://download.bzflag.org/2.4.3/mac/BZFlag-2.4.3-20131230-nogamma.zip That build works every time. I can launch it and ...

OS X 10.9 BZFlag crashes right after launching
BZFlag has worked fine for me on this machine in the past, but once I upgraded to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, it has been crashing almost immediately after it starts. I'm use a mid-2009 15" 2.53GHz MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. Oddly, it worked just fine maybe two or three t...

Re: Bullet rhythm
My drum set is electronic, so it might be fun to get a MIDI-to-USB cable and set my drum heads to trigger various BZFlag sound effects. Then I could make real BZFlag rhythms and post them somewhere. Maybe over the summer.

Bullet rhythm
I found a map with unlimited shots (Fancy Mudzone on mudpit.servegame.com:5154). I'm a drummer and the map wasn't busy (1 opponent), so I grabbed super bullet and started making rhythms with my shots. It was fun.
I still fought my opponent, but I was making rhythm while doing it.

Re: Digital signing for OS X Mountain Lion
The first time a new user launches an app that isn't from the app store and isn't signed, this is what they'll see: http://cargo.dcurt.is.s3.amazonaws.com/unsigned.jpg "You should move it to the Trash." (Source) That could scare some users away, and a thought I just had was that parental c...

Digital signing for OS X Mountain Lion
OS X Mountain Lion, due out this summer, will change the type of apps allowed to run. The default will be to only allow (1) apps from the Mac App Store and (2) apps from outside the app store that have been digitally signed by the developer with a certificate issued by Apple. The two other choices f...

No, this thread is about the plugin that's SW only. You type /mine and that's it. No other options.

Re: UselessMine - Create Mines with the Useless Flag Once Ag
The problem with any of these mine plugins is that if a user lays a lot of mines, he or she will get warned and eventually kicked for spamming. That's because /mine is treated like any other chat message. I've run into that several times on maps with mine plugins. Is there a way to have the BZflag s...

No, it does it with my hands off the keyboard and trackpad entirely.
