Re: A novel approach to leagues

BZFlag leages are a different story. Although there are many leagues (and new ones are added monthly), they scarcely average two or three games a week (if they are lucky enough to get even that). In the past 30 days there have been: 518 gu matches 174 ducati matches 25 pillbox matches Even the pill...

Acceleration limits will not and cannot give a style similar to "The early days". I'm far from an expert on any of this so can anybody correct me if I say something wrong (I know snick has looked into this and maybe meno as well): Strict acceleration limits effect all players, not just those using w...

To the best of my knowledge my transmission of passwords has been limited to the following: Giving the password to the globally registered account "get dub active!" to a couple of players so that they can use it if they want to. Accidentally leaving my own password in when sending my config file to ...

dmp: Agreed with everything there except the calculation of team scores to be shown on the website. There I'd prefer the team scores to be solely based on the matches, as per sussi's idea, rather than changing on the addition and removal of players as they would with averaging.

I think it is absolutely vital to keep distinct teams throughout the different styles. Firstly you're going to succeed in annoying an awful lot of people, me included, if you attempt to force people to either join together into giant super teams or leave many of their teammates. Furthermore it makes...

This idea would make a cap limit an absolute necessity or it would reward brutality when strong teams play weaker ones. This isn't a downside, I just felt like stating the obvious a bit.

Playing until ten captures could take hours and I'm fairly sure it wasn't what Zongo suggested. As I see it what we were talking about was standard match format but just ending the match early if one team got to ten.

I just want to stress that I think having 20 and 15 minute matches available is a bad idea, you gain no real advantage over just having one of them present since the extra five minutes is going to make almost no difference. All it's likely to do is foster more confusion.

Re: Oh

I agree with menotume, nothing the council can do will save the league. Decisions can and, for the moment I trust, will be made which will make it better and hopefully streamline the road to recovery but the council as a council are not going to be the deciding factor in the end. All the good player...

I'v voted for 15/20/30 but think only two times should be available to avoid confusion.

So in reality I meant (15/30) / (20/30) but decided the option was close enough to not require voting other.

Additionally: Downside: Inactive players on a team can overly influence its rating. A team can keep a permanently high rating by having a few very highly rated inactive players whilst they lose every single match. As I see it we're almost decided on some sort of seasonal league which rewards activit...

I would support the immediate implementation of all the ideas mistake has suggested in this thread, the only minor disagreement I'd raise is with ideas of significant changes to the rules for different "seasons". A couple of brief comments: Season length: - 1 or 2 years I only play this game since a...

Mainly CBG's, yours I'm still undecided as to whether I like it or not. I'm still convinced the best way to accomplish the goal it sets out to achieve is just for experienced players to start teams but this may well be impractical in which case Junior teams may work in some form.

I think forcing people to take in members under any conditions is a mistake, it's far more likely to just end up annoying the existing members than building up the new ones. Teams have a right to only let in players who they believe they will have fun playing with and forcing them to be continually ...

15 Minute matches

Following some thought and brief discussion on #bz-inc: Proposition: There should be the option of playing matches which last for 15 minutes instead of the usual 30. For: Fewer matches will be called of because people don't have enough time. More matches can be played! In matches with highly uneven ...

I think having scores decreasing over time is probably the best idea I've heard come up so far, the table should represent the state of the league now not being such a static record of times gone by. There shouldn't be much difficulty in finding a definition of inactive such that this wouldn't penal...
