I have this problem every once in a while. The fix for me is to restart BZFlag and try again. :)

Buying new system (video too)

I bought/built an Asus Pundit-R machine last August or so, and have ever since been wishing I hadn't. Long story short, there seems to be something to do with heat that makes the system somewhat unstable. So, I've been bent on starting to look for a new system for about three months now (various thi...

I very much like this idea. The fact that each flag - even laser - has some definite disadvantages would *require* teamwork in order to be functioning as a team - or to even have any chance at all of winning. I think this could easily be done without writing new plugin. The "Boxy War" map ...

Upon the Control of Ghosts

Would some knowledgeable soul please enlighten me upon the proper use and result of the /ghost command?

It appears to be a command used against oneself, but I can't even get that to work (yes! I'm invincible!). Am I way off base?

Looks really nice though. Really really nice...makes me think more seriously about upgrading sooner than I've been planning. :)

I like the flag hunt idea. Oftentimes I hunt a player who's being annoying with a superflag, but when he gets downed it's sometimes inconvenient to pull him off hunt. If I could get it to auto-hunt laser or gm or oo, that would be very helpful.

I installed a fresh 2.0.8 overtop a 2.0.6 install, then uninstalled the 2.0.6. I'm getting the following error when I try to run BZFlag now (WinXP SP2): No fonts found (the -directory option may help) Exiting I don't know if it's just me or what...since I got this error directly after a brand-new bz...

Additional Team-Flag Tracking

It would be helpful for those of us with less than perfect vision (and small radar space) if the HUD displayed a small diamond above the mousebox for the flags of other teams in the same manner as one's own team. This would help for keeping track of enemy flags during heated battle or when the map i...

It's always handy to get as close as you can to a GM and protect your teammates by blocking his radar locks. Or, run circles around him and try to draw his fire, depleting his shot limit. Also, I figure if I manage to draw 4 laser shots or 3 GM's and get killed, it was worthwhile. Usually, except ag...

Short answer is no, but the long answer (you may know this already, but I thought I'd throw it out anyway)... I used a Kensington Orbit some time ago in lieu of any mouse. I found it nice for precision work, but lousy for any sort of freehand/loose selection or drawing (I'm a web graphic artist by t...

Also, try to practice on servers that dont use flags, because when you eventually go to one that does have superflags, you will be already so good, that when one comes along... youll PWN like a maniac!!! Unless you get so good at playing without flags that you forget how to use them. ;) Or try play...

well, no matter, only you see it... no one else. so if it helps to make them colorful to see if someones this or that team, go for it... but its local only so no one else sees yours, only theirs (in most case, the default images) Yes, unfortunately. Or not. On that note, is it possible for a server...

Great points Donny. Some thought-provoking discussion! What it seems to all comes down to, then, is what other players consider a level playing field (which may be qualified by "common practice"). According to your definition: When playing a game on a public server it is assumed by players...

Ethics in BZFlag

I know, I know...this game is all about having fun. We shouldn't have to make it complicated by bringing ethics into the picture. However, tonight I answered one of my old questions and in the process created an interesting ethical picture. A week or two ago I asked vila if he knew of a list of all ...

The best advice I can give (coming from someone who was in exactly your position not so long ago) is to pick a map that you like a lot and play it to death. By playing with people who are better than you, you'll spend a lot of time in the blowup animation, but you pick up tricks and strategies very ...
