Which brings up a point - how is Wide Angle a bad flag? Sure it distorts your view, but you get a field of view of 120 degrees versus 60 - allowing you to see more of the battlefield and be more aware of your surroundings! It should either be a good flag or an option!

Hepcat down?

Has anyone noticed that Hepcat.org is down? Does anyone know why or when it might be back up?

Neat. It's pretty scary how you met the guy, but no one will probably hear from him ever again (unless you got some type of contact info). Funny how the features I like best are the ones you put in. I don't know what the map would be without the pyramid and the shield. You can cover another corridor...

However, please post here, or send to someone by e-mail, the world, config file, variables, and any othe...

DTRemak found the problem. I had a huge multi-lingual badwords file (the one from sourceforge), and the server had to push every line through 1,000's of lines. This easily took up all the resources, and the server was simply not fast enough to keep up. Thanks!!

Ah.. those are some good ideas. Yes I had a very large badwords file (~50kb) I'll try turning that off and seeing how that runs. Yes it's a rather complex map. Check it out here (Collaborator 1). It's not a 2.0 map, but it still has alot of objects. I might try reducing the number of shots, flags, e...

After a talk on the server with /dev/explodingtank, I found the problem. When a new player joins, the CPU on the server goes to 100% just trying to PM him the -srvmsg. Meanwhile, it can't keep up with everyone else, so everyone goes [nr] and loses their flag. Solution: either upgrade to better hardw...

I am running bzfs 2.0.2 (the latest release). Yes, when a new player joins and spawns for the first time, all players simultaneously drop their flags. I can repeat it as many times as I like.

Let me try to run the server with the debuggin options. I'll get back to you on that.

Server Bug - All players drop flag on new player spawn

Hi all, I am experimenting with a server running Ubuntu Linux. It's only 233 MHz, so you might want to take that into consideration. My problem is that when a new player joins, when he spawns all existing players drop their flags. It doesn't happen when the player spawns again. The server has had a ...

Hey, great guide! There were a few mistakes that I need to point out. First was the the option -helpfile won't run under bzfs and instead should be -helpmsg. Also, -autoteam needs a capital "T" (-autoTeam), otherwise it won't run either. Other than that, I found this guide very helpful in ...

Alright, the server is now reflecting the changes made in Rev. 2. ~~~~ Talking to some of the players, a couple of complaints that came up were that: 1. The curbs are a little annoying b/c you have to jump over them to continue traveling 2. You can't jump while on the yellow stripe in the road Just ...

Temporary server up

Server is up@ 69.148.87.81:5154 (look for it in the public list). It's only 233 MHz, so you might experience some slowness/lag. I'm in a hurry right now, so I'll get back to you with more details later.

Yeah, that looks that a really nice client Jeff has, regardless of what game it is. Is it a modded BzFlag client, or something else? It would be really neat if it was a Bzflag client.

Signs of player disconnection in BZFS Log file?

Hey all, When I run a server, the command line usually randomly reports sequences like these: Player [1] accept() from 217.157.132.92:25631 on 1816 Player [1] removed at 2005-04-27 19:26:45: Disconnected Player [1] accept() from 217.157.132.92:25884 on 1816 Player [1] removed at 2005-04-27 19:28:47:...

Thanks, but I still cant get it to work. All I get is this.

This is my .bat file.

Code: Select all

set BZFSPROGRAM="H:\program files\BZFlag2.0.2\bzfs.exe"

%BZFSPROGRAM% -conf config_testing.txt

pause
I still get no different results by adding -d -d.

Thanks for your help!
Any ideas?

Nah, I think it boils down to a basic issue of clipping. If you can't go through buildings, why should you be able to go through tanks? Name me another [current] FPS that allows you to clip through players. The developers were obviously concerned with realism when they decided that you should see ex...
