let's keep the banter to a low level... only comments on the map, likes/dislikes/fixes should be made, resist the urge to banter about opinions in the open forums

If you want to talk in-depth, visit the badgerking specific forum. it's open so you can just join it under the usergroups tab

Vote on Badgerking's new map additions

Please give me some feedback! Comments in report are running about 70% in favor but the grumblers are loud.

Poll runs for 14 days at which time the voting public's choice will be implemented.

Thanks,

mesh, meshbox, and vi

Just curious but what's the difference from an opengl perspective of a mesh and meshbox? My thought was that meshbox was probably a bzfs "macro" of some kind that automated the creation of boxes via the mesh. If you really want to quickly convert a 1.0 map of boxes, just open the file in a...

Making different elevations invisible to radar

Is it possible to make different elevations invisible to radar when you aren't at those elevations? For example... I have recently added a second level, and it obscures the radar detail for the ground for tanks down there. I would like to make the top level not appear when a person is on the ground....

WARNING: no configuration information is in plugins

I pulled bzflag from CVS and am trying to get it to compile. I run through the process, get to ./configure and it runs through to what appears to be completion except for the plugins. I get the following message at the end of the configure script. WARNING: no configuration information is in plugins ...

What would be nice is if there were an event for a flag pickup so I could just write a plugin that dumps a log of them. Then we could examine it and really find out who's cheating with a flag id mod.

Noticed some themes... 1 shot geno... I think this is fair, perhaps I might raise it to 2 but I don't think anything higher is unwarranted Laser camping is the primary concern. I think I addressed this when I made those two pyramids passthrough and put a small pyramid in the middle of the hallway. I...

Badgerking FFA Rogue Genocide Poll

Okay, people whined when I had it on, and now people are whining since I took it off so I thought, why not have a poll (actually USS Enterprise mentioned it to me in game).

So put in your 2 cents or euros or whatever currency you prefer and I'll pick a direction for this flag.

A LONG playerid with a LONG token causes bzfs to crash

Glibc errors causing bzfs to die? I have in recent history had bzfs die with glibc errors. Usually it's right after someone has connected with a string like this: Player lIFuP2vCdUxSngPQpC98t2VCxuRW10do5sv0dmLuFazU3GDe3MzwVqxW5CN6hoVWFMPM5MbstaLSlU3gRkxSrOdUrsLY1SFqJM52Firux6147gnQfofGPWjcpeRMFMRCZk...

Stick a -d on your bzfs command line and see what debug messages you get. They may give you a better idea of the problem. The other thing to try is just to open up your client and connect to the IP address of your server. See if the problem is really a problem. Might be that bzfs starts up and goes ...

5 shots, +f good (three times) Rico? Well, you'd better define what that is. In the end, I'm not really concerned with providing any hard and fast number, but merely illustrating what type of traffic I am seeing on my server. I would think that the configuration is fairly normative though. How many ...

Bandwidth Utilization on My Server

Since I've seen many posts on bandwidth utilization, I wanted to post a graph of the per player consumption on my server, badgerking. The data is collected using a simple shell script, bzadmin, and the vnstat utility. I then graph the data using gnuplot. I'm averaging around 15 players at any given ...

I still think it would be a good idea. The version tag for the official Mac version should say Mac OS X anyway. If a person innocently compiles it, they could still have a signed client, it just wouldn't be the official one. They could still send a server owner their key and then the server owner wo...

Nope, they couldn't be hacked. I'm talking about using a system just like that which PGP provides, which allows for authenticated communications, but applying it to clients. I think this would help stop cheat clients because these people have hacked/recompiled their clients to give them powers. but ...

Signed clients

I have an idea... improvement Sign the bzflag clients, official ones of course. Publish the public keys. Make a config option, call it signfile, and in it go the public keys for clients bzfs will allow to connect and play. Would this work? Of course, using a signfile, you could allow non-official cl...

Badgerking FFA Cops Guidelines 1) No cheating, period. I'm not talking about laggy players here, I'm talking authentic, hacked cheat clients. If you have indisputable proof then ban them permanently. If you aren't sure but suspect it, ban them for three days. Make sure you put in a descriptive messa...

Badgerking is old

My callsign has been around for a while. Sometime in the late 80's I wrote a small bbs to run on my PC (an 8088 at the time). It was simple, very simple, and supported the 300 baud modem I had. Later, I upgraded to a faster computer and modem (2400 baud) and switched to a free BBS package called RBB...

Registration required to talk

A few bad apples spoil the cart, or something like that.

In order to talk you gotta be registered now. You can still play unregistered but you won't be able to talk. You will still be able to send an admin message but that's it.

I seem to be getting some good play on my server, which is cool because it helps me justify in my mind keeping it online.

I've had some good reports and suggestions too.

Please post any further comments, or more in-depth comments here as you have them.

Thanks,
