V2.x is your software, V1.x was written for me, V2.x was written and is maintained for you , but it is true now as so often in life 'If you do not ask you do not get' Please forgive me if you've address...

Thanks for the response. I'll definitely look forward to the report. I'm leaning a slightly different direction with this right now. I've found it pretty straightforward to modify bzadmin (it being relatively lightweight and uncluttered) to output the information I want. I can then set up a private ...

There's an analysis I want to do here...

All of these flag-vs-flag outcomes depend a lot on server variables for the different flags. GM is reasonably strong on Missile war, for example, but weaker on other maps (e.g. Theme97's abilities) where the delay is longer or the turn radius is too wide (that happened one day on MW too). Map terrai...

I managed to get the 2.0.8 PPC build working by dragging and dropping the contents of the Resources directory of a working package into the Resources of my built package (which only had a BZFlag.icos file). This made the application work normally, XCode does not copy the needed data into the package...

RecordReplay.cxx

This is continued from http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=11149 . Because of the nature of the post, I don't think it belongs there anymore. I posted there about wanting to create indexes for replay files, where the index allows you to search using various criteria to find files and index point...

I managed to get a compile to work *mostly*; here are some notes about the process. For the record, I am working on a Dual 1.8GHz G5 (PPC), MacOS X 10.4.10, with XCode 2.4.1 installed (an earlier version of XCode was part of my problem before). So far, I am working on the BZFlag 2.0.8 tarball. (1) C...

Otherwise, I agree that people simply have to expect that communications on a server not directly under their own control are ...

http://quol.bzflag.bz/gumatches Thanks. I grabbed the first page of files and am studying them now (alongside the bzfs source). My thinking was to have an off-line process (e.g. script or separate program) process the files after they are recorded, storing a searchable index in a separate file or files, format to be decided. The replay server would have to be able to see and read/parse the index file, which is where the plug...

Plugin question: record and replay plugin(s)

I had a recent experience with using a replay server, which I found really useful (if you care about that see http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?p=112310#112310) The only thing lacking I could see is a good way of indexing the replay files. These could rapidly get to be very very large in number,...

A plug, for the replay server plug-in

I just want to put in a friendly plug for the replay server. I had a problem that stemmed from an in-play confusion on July 9 (you can look it up if you want to see what it was). At the time, I did not know about the replay server, and I tried to save my own message stream to review it. Unfortunatel...

Geno defense tactics depend heavily on the map. Missile War is where I see geno used most, and there the best tactic is to GM or Laser the geno just as it tries to leave the hot tubs in the center. I don't think the TH ever works as it was intended there so no one bothers with that. Attacking the ge...

I've seen some cheating on nn's servers, including Bloodbath, and I am not sure why. It may be his being relatively new, it may be the season, or something else. Some of the score/power asymmetry could be because of cheating; there seems to be a bunch going around right now. On the lag side of thing...

Variants of this idea have been discussed many times. L4m3r actually even tried to implement it in 2.0x by using a plugin that messes with shot types: http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7912 Is that plugin still around, that I could have a look at it? don't mean to be a gnu-sense, I just am.

Team Rabbit Hunt

An idea I had recently would be a modification of the Rabbit Hunt server mode. In this mode, the server would have regular teams, rather than a single team "Hunter". The mode would then work a bit like keep-away or king-of-the-hill in terms of scoring: every time a team member becomes a ra...

I've been there too. I had to laugh out loud when I first saw it. NN has some radical ideas. Another thing it makes me think of is an idea I've had about PZ. Advanced Tank Model Pillbox, by NN

hosted on userbin.net:5192, its a two-team CTF with superflags (not all of them), and no bad flags. This map has some really nice tank models, in place of some of the pillboxes on the traditional pillbox map. In spite of having superflags, it has gameplay a lot like pillbox CTF. Four screenshots her...
