Always a tough decision to make. It's probably OK as long as you didn't do anything that obviously should be object oriented.

For this to work, you would either need: To implement an entire scripting language in the server - or use an existing one (This is LOTS of work) Use plugins that respond to these events, this would need some changes to the server and would be unfriendly to non-programmers But in my opinion, this is ...

Yeah, I get a missing DLL error, I'll try copy & pasting the dll from another [newer] system, etc. It can't hurt to try. (but the chances of it working...)

Just wondering, but does BZFlag run on Windows 95? 'Cause I have an old copy on an old computer that just might run bzflag. I would be running it under linux, but DRI doesn't support my video card. Do I have any chance?

Yes, and no. It doesn't say that anymore, but it still stacks powerups and indicates it with the sky color. In the next release, I will implement your idea of having a random sky color, It is easy enough, I just was tired of coding and I decided to release. Oh, and the config file has no default val...

not quite, powerup name Jump hig shoot + run fast desc blah blah blah var _gravity 5 var _shotSpeed 5 var _tankSpeed 5 end this sets the name, the description, which get /say'd. And, it will add 5 to _gravity, _shotSpeed, and _tankSpeed when the powerup is triggered. simple, really.

powerup plugin 0.3 alpha

Now with: a config file parser, no more constants.h  capping a flag 2 times in a row within a certain time period triggers a powerup couple bug fixes a couple refinements Missing option to use random sky color - it would be easy to add, but I'll release while i'm ahead. :D May be buggy, I didn...

If we ever get that far, we'd have to change a lot of things, and would probaly start puting textures into a comprresed virtual file system ( like quake did ).

note that this won't actually cycle through them, but the timing is right. #ifndef CONSTANTS_H #define CONSTANTS_H const int POWERUP_PERIOD = (5 * 60) + (4 * 60); // this make the time between powerups 5 minutes, // I add 4 minutes because the powerup will last 4 minutes. Here is a breakdown of constants.h #ifndef CONSTANTS_H #define CONSTANTS_H Just a bunch of geek stuff. don't mess with it and you'll be fine const int POWERUP_PERIOD = 5 * 60; POWERUP_PERIOD is in seconds, but most people would like to have the delay between powerups in minutes. 5 times (the *) 60 s...

I had that problem too, but I got it to work by removing the -loadplugin from the config file and putting it on the command line (I'll work on fixing this) bzfs -conf /path/to/foo/bar -loadplugin /path/to plugin I'm on this problem now. This, however, may not be the same problem you're having. EDIT:...

Fix that - and I dare ya to draft us a sample config file to show us a demo of its capabilities. Oops, I forgot to mention that you have to unpack it into the plugins directory in the bzflag source. so you have: cd ~/bzflag-2.0.4.20050930/plugins tar -xzf ~/powerup.tar.gz cd powerup (your text edit...

powerup plugin 0.01 alpha

That's right the alpha of 0.01... aka pre-pre-pre-alpha This little beauty will change server variables every so often, ie making everyone able to run really fast (and promptly get autokicked for it  ), shoot fast, jump high, etc. More details on a previous thread. I'm only distributing the so...

I had a possible idea for a plugin... It is common on ctf servers to say "teams uneven, don't cap the flag", would it be possible to write a plugin to enforce is (like make anybody who picks up the flag die? Bigger FOV?

Suppose...
You pick up a wide-angle flag, just when you get used to the Field of view change, it snaps back. When it snaps back, you just realize it that BZFlag has a FOV that is too small.

Having a bigger FOV would add to the immersion...

Maybe have it as a server setting?
