Blah, this is getting confusing. Maybe capping a flag should earn you a point*, and killing someone earns you a fraction of a point. If that's even possible. *maybe you should get a larger bonus from capping if your team is outnumbered. Some sort of ratio or percentage thing, I imagine. This might h...

Yeah, observer mode helps a lot. It defaults to follow the player with the most points (I think), and that's the setting you probably want. A quick rundown of the observer controls (off the top of my head): F8: switch camera mode in roaming mode: Arrow keys: Pan camera Shift+arrows: move camera up a...

Hmm, probably not. I dunno.

Hmmm. *scratches nonexsistant beard* Idea (this may be a bit too complex): You don't lose points for bringing the flag away from your base. You do, however, earn a point for bringing your flag X bzunits towards your base (dunno what X would be). HOWEVER, after you score a point from doing this, ther...

How about going ~away~ from your base deducts that many points. moving more then 300 bzw units away will blow you up, and put the flag where it started. that'll prevent people from teamcapping, and every 100 units, you get a notification The only problem with that is, what if you want to hide your ...

Tedius makes an excellent point. A while back there was a topic (search for it) about abolishing individual player scores (dependent on kills). The idea never came about, but I will always say, some other scoring method has to be better on CTF, what Tedius suggests would be great. Perhaps an actual...

Maybe the other teams flag spawns outside the base, it could even fall from the sky into the middle of the arena. To expand more on that idea everytime 1 team caps, the opposing teams flag appears in the sky (cannot be seen in other words), within about 5 minutes (giving teams time to flood the mid...

True, but you could always do the opposite and give the lowest scoring players an advantage (now that I think about it, that's a much better idea). Also, I agree with what you said about the flag capping issue, there's really no way around that. A few more ideas: 1) the losing team in CTF gets a sli...

Rewards for kills/caps

This is an idea that's been explored in many multiplayer games before, and IMO is perfect for BZflag. Upon reaching a certain number of points (or caps, if it's a CTF map), you get a certain reward every time you spawn. If you drop under that number of points, you obviously lose the reward. Rewards ...

I like it. Simple, not too overpowered, but it would open up a lot of new possibilities. Almost like a reverse WG.

Multiple world-spanning map

Inspired by a thread in the Map Making forum (I think, can't seem to find it right now), what if there was a map that spanned several seperate "worlds", each connected by special teleporters? I'm not sure how exactly you would impliment it, but it could add a lot to the game. For instance, a CTF map...

True, the lack of speed might make it harder to use then Laser. Maybe if you increased the speed...but would that make it too overpowered?

Or perhaps combine it with an existing underused flag like IB.

SC.. you can already zoom with binocs, the reload time/range thing has some merit, but since it is a flag the not moving part makes you a sitting duck and no one in their right mind would hold on to the flag I think Stij meant you will still be able to move when you're not zoomed in with the scope....

New Flag ideas: SC and TR

Scope (SC): Turns your binoculars into a deadly accurate scope! You can zoom in and out while using the binoculars with up and down on the mouse (or arrow keys, if that's your thing). Also, the range of your shots is increased, at the cost of longer reload time. Also, you can't move forward and back...

New plugin idea: Destructable Bullets

Wouldn't it be cool if you could destroy bullets coming at you by shooting them? Either that, or when two bullets collide have them rico away in opposite directions...

Could add a new bit of strategy, especially on maps where you don't have much room to dodge, like "no jumping" maps.

Exactly.

Yeah, Theme97's sever is similar to what I was talking about. I'll ask him, but to be honest I don't know crap about making maps. :P
