Re: Map project Sig and I are planning

Does anyone know who created the Japanese castles map? I thought it was Mari Iijima. Use PM or just go to MW2.3 (Mari can play with another name, so ask). You can also try asking Heartnet (he also plays on MW2.3). Maybe players with Japanese names on MW2.3 can help. UPD: Heartnet runs bzflag.jp, th...

Re: CTF with 1 Flag

Maybe to make bases like in Aztec ballcourt. Only tank with tiny flag can cap, and size of tiny tank can be just slightly smaller than normal. With very large _maxFlagGrabs tiny flag will behave like teamflag --- will stay the position it was dropped so people could fight for it. The base can be sur...

Zone doesn't work properly.

I want five GM flags to be on a pad which is above the ground. So I do

Code: Select all

box
  position 42 -257 18.95
  size 110 5 1
end
zone
  position 42 -257 19.95
  size 110 5 20
  zoneflag GM 5
end
But GM is generated not on the pad, but under it on the ground.

Coffin Corner wanted.

Does anybody have Coffin Corner map? It was hosted on some bad server in ~2007, then I've seen it several times on other servers. I'll be glad to see it once again.

Well, I actually meant each team to discuss strategy that will be used. Weather to have or not seer guard at flag, primary way for flag carrier, how to report st positions, etc. Maybe 5 min discussion by team talk before match will do.

I don't remember why, but in 10.04 I've ended up installing drivers from nvidia site and i had to turn off compiz, otherwise OpenGL apps worked badly.

Re: Editor Highlight Codes

Well, I've made .lang file for GtkSourceView. So now you can have syntax highlighting at least in gedit. Gedit is available both for linux and windows. It also highlights bzfs command line options so could be used to edit configs. To install the file in Ubuntu copy it into /usr/share/gtksourceview-2...

I wonder if there .lang file for GtkSourceView. Maybe there was bzeditor with it? If so, it could be used for gedit.

Can't understand RGBA coloring.

The numeric values for color can range from 0 to 1 and represent the fraction of 100% for each color channel.
So why

Code: Select all

  diffuse 1 0.8 0.5 1
  texture pyrwall.png
works, but

Code: Select all

  diffuse 0.3 1 1 1
  texture pyrwall.png
doesn't, leaving default pyrwall color?

How to make huge map small?

Imagine there is really huge map, that needs hundreds of megabytes in your computer memory and takes several minutes just to cross it. Is there a way to make it smaller (easier to computer to handle it) but to preserve all its features? Maybe scaling somehow? Or you need to use less objects, change ...

Re: Map of the month

I think after all maps are submitted, there must be official tests, so enough people could try the maps in a real play. Maybe every weekend the next month in a certain time we all play 2 submitted maps. (Saturday and Sunday). Or other days.

And btw, there certainly should be HTF discipline.

Re: Battle Combat Strategy

Tried the map. It truly should be called "jumping skills". That would be cool to jump through the whole map with the team flag. Or to grab st and to hide in the heights listening to the approaching st jumps. Or even watching other st's from your high position.

Re: Deregistering from BZFLAG

btw, blast, why not to set gm shots limit on MW2.3? Maybe 30 (or 60?), like laser. Laser is strong when there are lots of players, gm --- when it is few, even stronger.

Well, I think 45 is fine. Or 30. Don't know.

Flag Idea.

I was thinking about flag that allow you to turn enemy's attack force against your enemy, like in some martial arts. I see it as a special flag, that makes bullets hit you being instantly refired from your gun. The tank itself can't shot, only redirect enemies' (or your team's) bullets. The tank can...

Re: don't let BZFlag die

I hope BZRobots will allow to create bots as good as humans on certain maps, e.g. laser camping bot om MW2. So we could possibly replace human players by bots on some maps and solve popularity problem --- you don't need popularity if you don't need real people.

I've solved it. The problem was with non-latin characters in path. So after changing "C:\Documents and Settings\Grigory\Мои документы" to "C:\Docs" everything works fine.

Re: "World cache files disappeared - Join cancled" - Help please

I've been trying 2.0.16 under WinXP and I had the same issue. For some reason "My BZFlag Files" folder is always read only. Making it writable or deleting it won't help --- after the BZFlag launch it turns into read only. Oh, I've checked --- all folders are readonly, but it means nothing --- one ca...

BZFlag without pulseaudio in 10.04.

I've got fresh Ubuntu 10.04 and BZFlag 2.0.16 from playdeb. With pulseaudio there is sound in game, but after the full removal of pulseaudio the sound became unavailable. However vlc and systemsounds work without pulseaudio. Is there any way to get sounds without pulseaudio? In 9.10 bzflag worked wi...
