I feel kind of stupid. I only noticed this about a week ago watching a match. For as long as I've been playing my mushy brain never thought of this. I think it's clever.

Topic: A question?: CTF Scoring WHY???

I think the current point system for ctf is fine. CTF isn’t designed for personal score, it’s a team event. I also think that coding some sort of "auto-assigning player system" when joining would be a good idea. Instead of the player choosing which team (color) to join, they are automatically dumped...

I'd agree with 10. Some players are more active than others. It could possibly pave the way for more teams forming. I think some of the larger teams are that way because the leader never closed the team. I would imagine that the lot of those players don't even play anymore.

No.

You can't penalize teams for not being able to play, bzflag is for liesure fun, we don't get paid to play.

As it is now, inactive teams (forget what the time period is) are moved to a different section on the league site, which takes care of this issue.

3v3 is my choice

I actually preferred 2v2 when we first allowed them as official matches; just the newness of it, but it wore off.

3v3 matches bring with it, different strategies. A team that may not be that individually strong for a 2v2 match can make up for that here.

As someone who's been playing ctf league games since the dawn of http://www.bzflag.org/league I might be able to offer a bit of advice (take it or toss it, no matter). Like my original post stated; work out the details before you play, run around a bit with the other team, if it looks OK, go with th...

There haven't been any hard fast rules on this. Both teams should talk prior to the start of a match and work out solutions for possible lag scenarios (among other things). You should test everyone’s lag prior to a match, we usually float around with the other team for 5 or so minutes before startin...

sm: regarding [dmp]'s ladder page; The FFA portion of his ladder, I believe, collects data every 5 minutes from certain servers which are listed. Once you've played using the same callsign for 20 collections (100 minutes, not straight time, but cumulative time), you'll appear on the ladder. Addition...

I think bzgirl hinted at this already. From a ctf perspective, you need the random spawning. Think of the possible deceit during a match. You may know where the respawn area is, if it is closer to where your flag happens to be at that moment, or the enemy's flag; what is to stop you from killing you...
