suspended page

Hm, did someone not pay the monthly bill? Dont know what it is, but I get a "suspended page" if I want to log in to gu or pillbox. Seems there is a problem with bzleague.com, its redirected to "http://m-a-t.com/suspended.page/" I really appreciate the time and work admins invest in the league ...

Re: Bad behavior in official matches

Seems you asked too often players from certain teams who are known for their complaining  For me jitter is ok if it stays the same the whole match. In my posting above I adressed the "cruel "lag increasing in special situations not the players who have a "natural" higher jitter. Would be unfa...

Re: Frequent name changes

Thanx Alex,

we had this problem - with some special players - some months ago.
The lost score / not entered match doesnt bother me. Its the recless behavior of this people and the unnecessary amount of work for the admins (as you described above).

I am annoyed too.

Same goes for the team name changing thing and the fast deleted teams, so that some matches cant be entered anymore.

Re: Bad behavior in official matches

@quantum dot: I will adress this special match to the gu admins too - i just sleep a night over it, to be more objective. But I posted here because I think it starts to become a common behavior of some players. And we should talk about it in the forum to show its NOT the way players should deal with...

Bad behavior in official matches

I am not sure if I should post this here or under another topic. But it was in an official GU match, so I start here: While playing an official GU match, there occured some things I am really unhappy with. It seems normal that while matching someone calls another one cheater or uses wtf , ??? or how...

Re: "Boost" your computer performance

Hm,

I noticed that on my "old lady" bzflag runs better if I close all unnecessary aps and services. But the reason for that is only my insufficient RAM. So for me, every Kibit counts. :)

You can use procX or Task Killer for that (windows, freeware).

Re: A new idea from a newer player..

@dexter: Mabye this gets a little off-topic (sry AR), but there is no need to "trick" someone to act nice. Most players are fair and behave well, and the rest - I am sure - dont care about an award for behaving well or showing good sportsmanship. And yes, I see the need for some players to get help ...

Re: A new idea from a newer player..

As you stated before, the rated things in 1v1 league is only part of a complete gu player. And that was my point, too. There are that much criteria to rate a player, and not everybody finds the same things important. Kierra and ts for example are way more interested in the sportmanship of a player a...

Re: A new idea from a newer player..

Ranking the way someone plays in gu leagues is a very difficult thing: In some teams, there are "specialists"; good in getting the flag, less good in defending or in capping. There are weaker player with really good teamwork. And others dont bother how often they get killed but the way they play is ...

Re: ?, thru, what? wtf? etc.

As I mentioned before, adding the 10 (or maybe 15) most used "config-hacks" to the GUI would make it much easier for beginners. No need to remove the config... But to "solve" this situation, it should be obligatory to use the newest release for matching in official games. That would avoid some other...

Re: ?, thru, what? wtf? etc.

In my opinion, the better point to start would be explaining what is in the config, what does it do. For a lot of new players - not only GU - the oldstyle GUI in bzflag is hard to handle. No tooltips, no explaining, no help. Its 80ties style. But "manipulating" the config is even harder; a lot of va...

Re: Dodging skills: FAQ

Ok, my 2 Cents: It helped ME a lot to learn and improve dodging in 1v1 duc matches. Im not good, but a lot better than before. On duc 1v1, there are only 2 shots, no jumps So you have to be more carefully with every shot you do and it helps you to avoid these silly beginners fault: jumping You shoul...

Re: Voting

Hmm,
there we are, back at base:

On a lot of maps, there are more like 3 or 4 players, not 5 to 8 players, if you dont take the top 5 maps.
On the "top maps", normally an admin is on it , too

So we need a working poll system on maps with 5 or less players.

Re: Voting

Good arguements from both sides. As a beginner, the "antique" GUI with slash commands are really hard to learn. It took me my first 2 or 3 years to learn how to vote or how to talk to a specific player and other such things. At the moment, I spent a lot of time to explain such things to newbies; And...

Re: Looking for the best mouse for BZflag

I cant resist to give my 2 Cents here, because I am / was in the same situation: Till one week ago, I played with an 12 year old ball mouse (PS/2, Win 95 ready, costed me 5 DM). With that "thing" it was really hard starting in GU and 1v1, I had to make the mousebox as small as it was possible (means...
